I was surfing the web, when I stumbled onto a website called PeopleScout.com. It had a link to ExpressJet. Com. I filled out an application and CALLED the number on the website. They told me to wait for a phone call or an e-mail to see if I was qualified. A few days later I get the proverbial drop dead letter stating I did not meet there quals. WTF man, I have 2200TT/125Multi and I can't get picked up by a regional. Is Express a bunch of losers like Great Mistakes and Colgan? Out of whose rear end did this 200 of multi standard come from? I understand the forest service has it for fire fighting crews. What do they know. There airplanes keep breaking up IN THE AIR due to corrosion and age. I need some answers soon before I starve to death.

Sincerely

Frustrated and pissed off.

P.S. Mighty nice of them not to CHARGE me for applying like Colgan tried to do. BTW, I reversed my credit card charge when Colgan would not give me a JOB. grumble. grumble, grumble, grumble.

how dare they establish some method of narrowing down the field!

don't worry, though. with the attitude your post displays, you wouldn't have made it through the personal interviews anyway. think of it this way.. they saved you a bunch of hassle and wasted time!

Get the multi time up and re-apply. I suggest an MEI if you instruct.

Keep fighting the good fight.

I have 2500TT and 1500Turbine with 121exp. at 2 airlines. I got the same thing only I filled out the online questionaire. My question was this, how am I deemed not qualified when the online thing didn't even ask my times?

Ah, its all for the best anyway. But not sure what they are looking for or not looking for. Really weird

Anybody know how to update your info PeopleSoft has on file. I got the "Thanks but no thanks" letter about 6 months ago when they first started hiring again. I'm at 1500/400 now, so I figured maybe I'd have a chance. One other question, I'm thinking of getting my ATP in like a month or so, would having the ATP hurt one's chances of getting hired to be a Regional FO??

Thanks, TJ

Old airplanes......UMMMMM the oldest a/c we have is like 7 years old......and we don't want guys with only 125 multi because............they can't fly worth a shiite and if you have 2500 and only 125 multi it shows a serious lack of motivation.

Well when I intervied with COEX I had 1200 and 200 three months ago and ended up not getting the third cuz I didn't have enough actual instrument. Most people get shot down due to the fact that they say somthing dumb on the phone interview. Oh, and Dawn Daniels would have eaten you alive and then tell you that you did a good job and send you an email that says you are a piece of $h1T!!!!!

Whats wrong with GLA or Colgan???

anyways;

DEAL WITH IT

GADZOOKS!!!!!!! First off 200 multi is nothing!!!!!! Just enough to be truly dangerous. Second, Chief Pilot for a sky dive outfit is not exactly quality time to the airlines. They look for ATC exposure, and actual IFR, and flying somewhere as opposed to up and down all day in the same 10 mile square.

I would suggest that if the airlines are your goal, you should concentrate on flying that contains a little more "useful time" so to speak. You have plenty of time to be snapped up by a freight outfit like Airnet or Ram Air. A year of that and the regionals will be much more receptive to your resume.

From an ex instructor point of view for a 121 carrier, the most useless time in a log book is Jump planes and Banner towing. Good for summer money, and sowing your oats but not looked on as useful time for preparing for an airline career.

I suggest you overhaul your attitude, and remember IFR,IFR,IFR,IFR!!!!!!!

But what do I know? Your probably right.......the airline really should have hired you....after all your special and unique, and are so much better than the 20,000 other pilots out there fighting for the job. Plus the world owes you!

A lot of people are in the same boat as you are. There are tons of CFIs with tons of hours out there. Just have to keep sending things out and keep a positive attitude. Being fustrated or complaining is not going to accomplish anything. I think right now, having someone walk your resume in is the only way to go with <200 hrs ME.

Hell I interviewed with just a shade over 500 TT and 101 multi, what the hell is your problem...

You are firing me up!!!!

There are more important things to be pi$$ed about!!! Like when my class date is!!!! You need to struggle like myslef and other CFII MEI people for a little bit longer and your time will come to sit in a hiring pool if you are lucky.

I needed to get that off my shoulder

O.K. O.K. So I was making a very strong statement. Maybe, blowing off a little steam too. I can take a little heat. I don't have the 20 or 30 something age to be playing games with some kid behind an interview desk. I am old enough to be your DAD buster. Believe me, I have earned my stripes flyin divers. They can be just as cantankerous as some pax getting on an airline. My job IS alot more detailed than you think. I would like to see some of you wizz kids do what I do. I have also used my job to get the cross-country time I need to fulfill Part 135.243 requirements and stay current! I will spare you the doctorial disertation on the finer points of skydive driving for the time being. IFR op's would be easier than what I do. Don't you dare tell me I am unmotivated along with flying I have also been tring to raise 2 very fine teenage SONS with no child support from there even so good mother. It has been a real b!+&#. Flaming I don't need, just some wit and wisdom. BTW, a year ago Colgan was charging to apply at there operation. From what I read here, Colgan is not the best place to be either. I was also trying to draw out what other people thought of GLA. We all know where this board stands on Mesa.
I may have not been in the classroom for along time but I have alot of real would experience dealing with ATC, passengers and very busy traffic patterns. I do offer much. Multi engine time is extreamly expensive and I don't have the $$$$ to just go arround and buy it at your friendly FBO. Hopeing for some more serious answers. Thankyou.

To those folks that tried to encourage me. A big thankyou for your pat on the back. No I am not better than any one else and neither are they better than me. I don't have the age to be folling arround. I will beat down doors till I get a yes. I do have under 500 hour pilots willing to do my job for FREE. Drop Zone Owner's love this. They try there best to exploit pilot's need to fly as much as any one else does. No, I haven't put up with a junior pilot trying to kill me. That was my choice and lack of money for the rating. Well thanks again for the encouragement.

T206driver,

I hate to p1ss on your parade, but if you have teenage kids, I suspect you're at least knocking on 40, right? And a guy that age with a whopping 2000 hours and no twin time ain't
exactly a prize as far as most outfits are concerned. Plus, they wonder how you're gonna get
along with the "punk kid" parked in the left seat. As one of the other fellas suggested,
time dropping divers is pretty useless as far as most places are concerned.
And sure, it sucks doing it. UP, DOWN. UP, DOWN. Maybe get yelled at a few times in
between. (Been there.) But, IT IS A DAY AT THE BEACH compared to single pilot IFR Part 135cargo. (Been there, too.) You did come across in your post as having a little bit of an
attitude problem. And hiring managers at airlines pick up on THAT fairly quickly. (Gosh, I've
been THERE, too!!) If you want a crack at a regional (that you'd actually want to work at)
GET an MEI, try and get some 135 multi time.

That "kid" is the one that makes the decisions. And that "kid" that will be your Captain has much more experience than you do. A bad attitude is easy to see and so far yours is showing, You must change that first to get hired.
I would like to see some of you wizz kids do what I do.
Most of them have, that is why they have the experience. (Not withstanding the 500 hour TAB types)
I have also used my job to get the cross-country time I need to fulfill Part 135.243 requirements and stay current!
To stand out you need something more than just staying current. With a schedule you go no matter what the weather is doing. Rain, Ice, Snow, Fog, whatever. When was the last time you shot multible 200 and a half ILS's in one day? That is the IFR they like to see. In the airlines, if it is legal, you are going.

I would recommend that you find a 135 outfit to fly for. It does sound like you lack the IFR experience that will really make you stand out, and I am not talking about the currency crap. I mean the real world seat of the pant decision making that is required on a daily basis, ie. fuel loads, alt airports, go/no go, diverts, radar skills, reroutes, ground stops, last minute on the fly holds, and the always fun Pax or fuel decisions.

I have never seen a freight driver ever bust an employment sim check, I have seen flight instructors and banner tow types not make it through the first five minutes. On the other hand a bad attitude will flame you before you ever get to the sim portion.

10 years ago the competitive requirements to fly for a regional was 2500 TT and 1000 multi. Times have changed a bit now but 2100 and 125 multi does not make you stand out in any way, so you need to find some "look at me" time to add to your experience. Flight instructors and jump pilots MAY get an interview. Charter guys and freight dogs WILL get the interview.
