Two guys posing as cops checking for drugs robbed me of my Rolex (no, not the one I got on the street in BKK... ).

Real cops will not do this. Hope your luck is better.TC

same scam happened to me in Moscow.

Fake cops (look real) pull you aside around Red Square area and want to see your "papers" (passport) ask where you are staying, how long, etc.

they take your passport, which magically shows up at your hotel 6 hours later where you can buy it back for $500 USD. What are you going to do?

Luckily I heard about this ahead of time and NEVER carry my passport, just a photocopy of one...

I leave passport/visa (and the Rolex or the Breitling!) in the room safe.

Sorry to hear, who would have thought? Madrid always seems pretty safe.

bastards.

PS --- thanks for changing my avatar MODS -- get a life. this place is going down quick!!!!!!!!!

Just another reason why I hate those paella eating pussies. That is one of the dirtiest places in Europe.

Just one question, are you sure that wasn't Semperfido in his Marines uniform and you were seeing double after a hard night out?

G4G5--No, they had dark blue jackets with silver stripes on their sleev... Hey! Wait a minute... ;) TC

Good news TC, someone found your watch. It's over at the "new" place on the corporate board.

Sorry about the bad news TC. If FlightInfo ever refunds the money I donated I'll forward it to the TC watch fund.:)

Regarding Russia, when questioned by the police I speak in the most slang-filled English I can think of. Works like a charm.
