Hmmmm? A warning shot?

1. Who transfers our bags now, and who has transferred them for the last 7 years?

2. Who handles all customer service before and after the actual flight?

3. Who parks the planes, when they get parked, and who loads and unloads the planes?

4. Who cleans the planes?

5. Who makes the unrealsitic schedules that we endured this summer?

The only thing we do now, is fly the plane, provide inflight service and safety oversight, and provide technical service for the plane. We are only as good as the support, processes, and leadership we receive. The buck stops there!

Oh, yeah, we get a weekly update thanking us for what we do and what we do for each other. YeeHaa!

Fire the shot!

To me this is a message more to Uncle Jerry and the gang than it is to the line pilots. Basically if Jerry doesnt want to treat his employees very well and hoards the $160 million a year in profits and his employees protest with flight cancellations, late flights, poor service, etc Delta is saying fix it or be replaced. Jerry better wise up and understand its under his leadership and huge profits that the job is not getting done presently. At the end of the day all mother Delta sees is a crappy product that they are going to refuse to accept anymore. The fact Delta has its own other problems to fix has no bearing on this decision.

I think Delta can replace Jerry and everyone under him if things don't start improving in Delta's eyes, including pilots. If Skip, Bryan, and Jerry can't do it, why will the next boss be any different?

I'll make Delta PA's when I get paid the Delta pay rate. Until then I'm making ASA PA's.

On time? "Thank you ladies and gentlemen for flying Atlantic Southeast Airlines..."

Typically late? "On behalf of your DELTA connection carrier, we would like to apologize for your delayed arrival/departure to the William B Hartsfield International Airport...."

why do you all care so much? Delta doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks (us OR the PAX). if they did, they wouldn't be flying ANY RJS on 2 or 3 hour flights and they wouldn't have all the Shaniqua's with the "Atlantatude" working the gate for their "precious passengers".

Do you really think Delta is going to shut ASA down or drop Skywest service? Who would they replace them with?

Freedumb? buy mainline 300 737's to fly them to CSG or DHN? NOT....

Chill out and do YOUR job. Nothing you can do about the rest of it anyway.

What the hell?!?! You know that sort of attitude doesn't play well here. We are looking for the Run! The sky is falling! or Cats are chasing dogs! sort of stuff. Get with the program!

As far as I can tell they are doing just as they have said they would be taking over aspects of the operation such as gates and ramp activities. Now, if they can get those darn Comair stations to come around, we'll be in good shape overall. However, as you correctly stated, all we can do is our job and let the rest of chips fall where they may. We can't do anything about it anyway.

If you go to McDonalds, you get a McDonald's product. You don't know, or care, who owns the store. The Franchisee maintains strick control over the product.

It surprises me the airlines don't exercise the same oversight, if not more control, than a food joint. A bad burger is a $1 problem. An RJ or ATR accident is a potentially $10,000,000,000 problem. It seems like a lot is assumed in this business and thanks to the maturity, responsibility and skills of professional pilots it does work out.

Delta wants to be the Starbucks of the airline business. A nearly billion dollar investment in lie flat business elite seats does not make sense if the flight from Shanghai connects to Birmingham and the last leg is unpleasant.

Something like 60 to 65% of Delta's total block hours are now flown by Delta Connection. To make the system work, they have to get some control over their outsourced brand.

That being said, I don't think ASA has as much to worry about as does any of the operators with 50 seat jets. Maybe it was in another part of the presentation, but Delta said that the cost of oil would have them re-evaluating their 50 seat jet markets and they had the option of parking some MD88's.

If the jet burns a lot of gas, I think the market has to earn a "slam dunk" profit to keep its service.

Mesa....

Ya get what ya pay for.

Shaniquia on D makes it clear she doesn't care about her passengers. She makes marginally more than the person across the hall at BK, but doesn't get free burgers.

Seriously, if Mother D wants to fix the kids, take control of the kids. I think that the goal of reducing costs by outsourcing has taken precedence over producing good customer service.

Now, realistically, Delta was put in this position by the market. Folks will complain about bad service, but they'll be back for their next flight if Expedia says that ASA/SKYW/COMAIR is the cheapest ticket.

In the long term, the biggest thing that the airlines could do to improve customer service would be to decrease the number of airlines providing service. Whether through lobbying, or consolodation, this is the best chance that customers have of seeing an increase in the quality of their air travel product, and more importantly to the airlines, an improvement to the bottom line. Clearly, this will mean an increase in what the customer pays.

He made it very clear, perform or else. DCI is at the bottom, it is Delta then DCI, you are disposable.

He needs to get his own house in order. What airline will he be running next after he bails with the golden parachute?

FIRE US! Everbody that gets fired or quit gets a better job!

I include Delta in all my PAs.

"ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Atlanta and please remain seated with your seatbelts fastened until the Delta personnel come out to park us".
And "welcome to Atlanta, Delta operations wants us to wait for our gate which should be available in 20 minutes".
And "sorry for the delay, Delta personnel are still loading the late arriving bags".

Delta ground operations in ATL is making us look bad.

Exactly. As long as the revenue keeps pumping in, Delta's only giving lip service to customer satisfaction. Ironic that ASA is the worst statistically, yet the most profitable regional, don't you think?

Don't like the product your franchisee is putting out, Richard? Fine, then BUY THE FRANCHISE BACK and make it a corporate run store!

Maybe your bait and switch tactics work with the shareholders, but don't tell us we're Delta employees, then pay us ASA/SkyWest/Comair/Republic of Chitaco America/Mesa Freedumb/Pinnacle wages.

You get what you pay for!

there are still a few companies that do not have to report to the DOT their operational performance. So in theory we may not be the worst.

I will say this. I think the Mr. Anderson is different that his predecessors. He is not someone that does not say something, if it does not need to be said. I know people that have worked for and with him at UHC and NWA. He is a doer. He gets the job done. I would not put it past him to fire a DCI carrier to prove a point.
That said, ASA has the least amount of issues when it comes to branding. Being owned at one time by DAL will pay dividends when it comes to this initiative . ASA will just take out its magazine. BFD. The ones that have to worry are the other that fly neutral jets with their own livery inside.
Needles to say, DAL owns 40 of ASA's 50 seaters. I would venture to guess that some of those will start leaving the property in the next six months or so. They will more than likely be replaced by the 76 seaters, but who knows
