Vermont is having a pilot board this August. Sorry for the short notice. Those who still need the BAT and AFOQT will need to get moving.

VERMONT AIR NATIONAL GUARD
UNDERGRADUATE PILOT TRAINING (UPT)
F-16C
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Closing Date: 1 August 2006

General Information: The 158th Fighter Wing, Vermont Air National Guard, South Burlington, VT, is accepting application packages from applicants interested in attending Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT). An indeterminate number of candidates will be selected to fill UFT positions. The Vermont Air National Guard is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Eligibility criteria and application procedures follow:
Minimum Qualifications: You must meet these minimum qualifications to apply:
• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree is required (must be obtained prior to attending training).
• Maximum Age: Must be able to enter Undergraduate Pilot Training before reaching 30 years of age. (Flight training to begin sometime in Fiscal Year 2008 = Oct. 2007 – Sept 2008).
• Physical: All candidates must be able to pass an Air Force Flying Class I Flight Physical. Military members must have uncorrected near and distant vision of 20/70 or better, corrected to 20/20 or better.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, mentally and morally sound, and capable of obtaining a TOP SECRET security clearance.
• Must have taken the AFOQT and meet minimum scores outlined in AFI 36-2005.
Military Obligation: If selected, a military obligation is incurred, beginning on the date graduated from UPT.
Application Package: To be considered, you must submit an Application Package to the 158th FW Pilot Selection Board. Mail application package to:

Packages must be received no later than close of business on 1 August 2006, and should contain the following documents:
• Cover Letter containing information you desire and deem necessary.
• 1 Page Resume (include Date Of Birth and Height/Weight)
• Copy of College Transcripts (certification/embossed seal are optional)
• AFOQT / BAT (PCSM) Scores. NOTE: AFOQT and BAT must be administered before the closing date of this announcement, and the results must be available for the selection board. If you need to take the AFOQT, contact MSgt Holly Powell at (802) 660-5985 or MSgt Sharon Erickson at (802) 660-5984 (DSN prefix 220). If you need to take the BAT, contact MSgt Blodgett at (802) 660-5228. If you live a long distance from Vermont, call for a location referral to AFOQT test sites in your area.
• FAA Licenses or Ratings documentation (if applicable).
• Additional documents, including Letters of Recommendation, may be added to the Application Package at your discretion.


Summary of Selection Process and Pilot Training:
• Interested personnel submit an application package by 1 August 2006.
• Application packages will be screened for required contents. Complete packages will be forwarded to the 158 Fighter Wing (FW) Pilot Selection Board (PSB).
• The PSB will review all application packages. Candidates selected to continue in the selection process will receive additional forms to be completed and submitted to the Pilot Selection Board prior to selection for interviews. Candidates will be required to take the Basic Attributes Test (BAT) prior to interviews. All travel, lodging, meals and any other expense, is the responsibility of the candidate.
• The PSB will select a number of candidates for Pilot Training. Candidates who are not selected may request their file remain active for future vacancies by notifying the Board in writing.
• Selectees will receive the USAF Flying Class I Flight Physical.
• Once approved by ANG officials, selectees will be placed into actual training quotas for the USAF Enhanced Medical Flight Screening Program (EMFS), the Introductory Flight Training Course (IFT), the ANG Academy of Military Science (AMS) and Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT).
• EMFS is two or three days of testing at an Air Force Medical Facility.
• IFT is normally a 60-day program to ensure selectees have at least 50 hours of flying time and earn their Private Pilot License prior to attending U.S. Air Force flight school (if the selectee does not already possess one).
• AMS is held at Knoxville, TN and lasts six weeks. Upon graduation from AMS, candidates are commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the USAF Reserve.
• SUPT is held at one of four USAF bases in the southern U.S. SUPT lasts approximately one year.
• After completion of SUPT, new Pilots will attend Water and Combat Survival Training at Fairchild AFB, Washington, (or Pensacola NAS, FL) lasting about four weeks. They will then attend F 16C Replacement Training Unit (RTU), lasting approximately six months at one of four bases.
• Upon completion of RTU, the officer will returned to the Vermont ANG, where they will receive a minimum of 254 days of active duty for Home Station Training (HST). Officers will remain on continuous active duty from the time they begin SUPT until they complete their HST, no exceptions.
• After completion of all HST requirements, the now combat-ready F-16C pilot will revert to Traditional Guard (part-time status). They will be required to perform ground and flying duties as required to meet currency, event and minimum training standards, as directed the unit Commander.
