I'm sure this is old news to most, but I couldn't find reference to the news anywhere on the site, so I figured I'd share.

The 40 recalls will be in training in November, and more will be recalled next year.

Hope that helps!

GOOD NEWS!! HOPE ALL WILL BE BACK SOON!

It will be interesting to see how many guys take the recall or hang out in their current jobs to see what the bankruptcy proceedings and pension woes lead to. Not to mention how many more senior guys decide to retire early.

 Just ran into the very last guy furloughed at UAL in Rockford, IL on a customs/tech stop the other day. He was pumping gas at the FBO. He is planning on going back and looking forward to it. He also scored an L-39 ( Chech Jet Trainer )ferry job out of North American Aviation and will keep his hand in that. His opinion is that maybe only 50% or so will return, guess we'll see how that works out on this first go around. With all of the love the company is showing the pilot group, don't really blame people for finding other careers. I plan to at least take the full 2 year deferrement to wait and see. Then again its not like they will get to my number anytime soon. Still good news about the recalls. The letter I received today says that they expect more announcements before the end of the year, came from Steve Forte. Looks like we will have to max out the 401K for retirement though, that is if the existing employees don't burn the place down before we all go back!

Hey guys--this is hardcore rummor, but word around the campfire from a former SFO new-hire supervisor who's buds w/a flt manager said that the Board of Directors approved provisions for 400 recalls right off in 2005 if WHQ needs them. I figure that news woulda made the compuserve forum somehow if it was true, but that's what he said. TK wants to ramp up big time (50+/mo.) in the spring to fill the gap. Speculative at best..but that's what I heard.

We all know that among other things, little details like the pension, early retirement, and block hours for '05 will determine the rate and number of recalls.

Good luck out there. Hope to be back soon and STAY back.

Rob

Thanks for info

Excellent rumor. I plan on bypassing awhile, of course I won't be recalled for a while (1182 out of 2172 on the street). I REALLY do not want to commute to the LCO on reserve out of ORD. Hopefully 05 will be better than the last few years were for the industry.

Ciao

Recall Assignments

For all you interested furloughees. I am in the very first recall group of 20 starting in November. We just got the drop for the recall assignments. All of the first 40 are A320 slots. On the latest bid which closed September 8th, there were 36 unfilled vacancies. All Airbus and the domiciles were 15 LAX and 21 SFO. So, If you wanted to stay in ORD, JFK or DEN, like myself, we are out of luck. Nothing like commuting to LAX on reserve. Hmmm...Living the dream.

Dude, you are soooooo 1998! What, you had to quit your weekends off 747 capt job to go back? A lot of guys would be happy to go back to reserve at the Yo these days ;)
