Hey, Great news!

I just received an email describing traveling from a 'training travel' airport for recurrents and the like. Any little bit helps my SLC-LAX commute!

The email also says hurry up and designate your training travel airport! Sounds to me like feelers are being put out to exactly how many dumbaciled crewmembers want HBA.

Gee, didn't they leave out a few airports from the "list of all airports in the US with airline service"?

Hey, Great news!

I just received an email describing traveling from a 'training travel' airport for recurrents and the like. Any little bit helps my SLC-LAX commute!

Glad to see they accommodate the one guy in San Luis Obispo and Key West, but dont care about the much bigger St Louis and Santa Ana.

The email also says hurry up and designate your training travel airport! Sounds to me like feelers are being put out to exactly how many dumbaciled crewmembers want HBA.

Sorry you're reading way to into this. This is the way we had it under the old contract. They know how many new hires want HBA's.... ALL OF THEM.

Please don't come here thinking the HBA is going to change anytime soon. This changed back to the old way of things for a variety of reasons. If you think this means HBA's for all it doesn't. It means here is a little carrot. The stick is you get to drive to your domicile for the rest of your tours.

So, for someone who is waiting to start, what does this mean? Whenever we go to training are they going to send us out of one of these airports or our domicile?

New Hires are treated different I believe.

First training evolution is from a city of your choice.

Second training evolution is not. It starts from your domicile.

So, either your company or a/c training will start and end at a city of your choosing.

After you complete training as a new hire you are given the same treatment as the rest of the pilot group.

This is what I know from my buddy over there. I don't think it changed with this LOA.

But, you do get 10 dollars a week for laundry as a new hire while in training. As if that is a big bonus.

I could be wrong. I could be right. It is FlightInfo(dot)com after all.

I start May 7th. They are providing transportation to and from MCO for me for Indoc. I am supposed to report to PBI in June for transportation to ICT for the sim.

The company always allows travel for the first training event from the airport you wish. After that you need to travel out of your domicile. For training events which commence on or after May 19, 2007, a Domicile based pilot whose residence is 90 or more miles away from a covered training event may elect to designate a Training Travel Airport. The covered training events include Aircraft Recurrent or Aircraft Transition Training Events conducted at vendor facilities (e.g., Flight Safety), and Company Recurrent or Upgrade Training Events which do not include training in an actual aircraft.

The $10 laundry credit is right also.

This does not change the base situation. But it does make life a little easier for commuters. Not sure why STL is not on the list. Maybe a mistake or maybe someone doesn't like STL. I know I don't much care for it.

Both qualify as an HBA. Airports not making the list require a "New" HBA Submission Form be filled out. Basically, the form allows for a standardized way of determining HBA qualification as described by the HBA.

STL not making the list is just plain stupid. You can't fix stupid without the form.
