For those of us who were around and working on 9/11/01, there is a new book out that takes a minute-by-minute account almost of what happened early that day, from when AAL11 first lost radio contact to the end of the day.

Touching History, by an XJT E145 pilot Lynn Spencer, takes a minute-by-minute account of what happened that morning.

I just got my copy 90 minutes ago, and I am through page 73; UAL175 just went into tower 2. Each page sends a shiver up my spine, and reminds me of that horrible, terrible day. Even though we all know what happens, I simply cant put it down.

From interviews with alert pilots, commercial crews working flights that morning, FAA Air Traffic Controllers; she, from what I have read so far, as entwined such an intricate tale that, well, damn.

On the ALPA 9/11 ribbon flight bag sticker it says Never Forget. I dont see how you could forget after reading this book.

I HIGHLY suggest that you all grab a copy and give it a read. Yeah, I hate the TSA as much as any crewmember, but I hate the real infidels that flew those planes into buildings even more.

Never Forget...

I had just flown over DCA on my way to RDU from BWI when the second plane hit. Listening to Washington Center tell us about it was shocking.

After being told of the First plane hitting the tower, we talked how it must have been a flight control problem because any pilot would have tried to land in a open area. Then when the controller told us the second one hit, we knew it was bad.....

I will never forget that day.

OR, read the 9/11 Commission Report. I'm sure that's where Lynn got her information from. And yes...it is chilling and difficult to read.

Another amazing and horrifying book to read is "102 Minutes". It takes you through basically everything that is known about what happened INSIDE the two towers in the 102 minutes from when the first one hit to when the 2nd tower fell. It's based on eye witnesses, phone messages/911 calls from above the impacts, etc. I highly recommend it, but be prepared to get mad.

Not exactly. If you read the Preface it tells you that the point of the book is to tell the stories that were left out in the 9/11 Commission Report. The whole book is based on interviews with controllers, airline pilots, and military pilots who were involved. I started reading it today and it's pretty good.

read "crossing the rubicon" if you want a book about 9/11 that will get under your skin. it actually caused me to have nightmares. no joke.

My copy came yesterday. I did not think that at my age that I could still get emotional, but this book really got to me. I could not put it down.
