Pilot safely ejects before crash landing
KINGSVILLE, Texas A Marine pilot today safely ejected from his trainer jet over

South Texas before a crash landing in a field.

The T-45 from Naval Air Station Kingsville had some nose damage, but otherwise

appeared to be intact following the midday accident.

The cause of the accident is sought.

K-R-I-S Television identified the pilot as 33-year-old Major Gabriel Fabri of Hampton, Georgia.

Some workers in a nearby cotton field reported hearing a boom, seeing a parachute open and then later saw the pilot walking around on another field.

Boz,

Fab's is OK. Jet just didn't want to fly anymore after dirty up on ILS final. Evidently he was returning from a 2 plane ACM and had just split up the flight to get below the layer. Didn't fly once during the two days I was down (in Krock for the reserves) since we stood down the day of the mishap and the CNATRA called off the next days flying. Escape system worked as advertised and Fab's only had a sore neck the next day.
