nobody will ever have as many posts as the general..... I'm making a run for it, anyway.

I think you have a problem distinguishing between criticism and bashing. You seem to lump it all in the same category.

Mugs 01-11-2005.....................

Excellent point Canyon. You are absolutely correct, I should not presume anything. Maybe I should go buy the type rating, just like you did to help improve my long odds. Then I can say, "I bought the type rating just like a SWA guy, will you hire me now?"

So was I being criticized, or bashed?

Like I said, when I read the kind of stuff I was talking about in the earlier thread, I use a harsher tone. Here is what you said that brought that response on.......

What makes you think you would get hired there? Oh yea, just tell 'em "I'm from United" hahahahahahahahahahahhohohohohohohohohohohohoohoh

Mugs, Listen my brother. Honestly. Can we talk? Here's the skinny.

It's just that I harbor an incredible amount of resentment towards UAL for not hiring me back in "the day" so I had to look elsewhere for work. I have never forgotten it and never will. ;)

Seriously man. I didn't ask to be top dog on quality of life and pay. I was perfectly happy being in the top five. Remember OUR CONTRACT HASN'T CHANGED! Don't be upset because we work our butts off over here and are enjoying the spoils. We give our company a unique advantage by being the most productive pilot group bar none.

I will not apologize for that. I "love" my company because they think 5 moves ahead. By the time I see where they were going they've already gone elsewhere!

Will we fall on hard times? I can garauntee it. When? I don't know but it's simple. A company that doesn't grow dies.... or at least becomes more like the other legacy carriers. It will happen. But I'm gonna give Herb every opportunity to put it off as long as he can.

Cheers,
Gup

That was exactly the type of elitist response I had expected from you. That's why I gave you that response, because of your "go work for Sir Richard Branson" comment. Not one mention of the word "interview", but due to your "better than thou" abilities, you do not have to interview, why should you. That is exactly the attitude many of your brethren have, still.

Wow there's a stretch. Suggesting superiority by the idea of going to work for an airline that doesn't exist (yet) and will likely set new lows in terms of pay and benefits? All the while attempting to start up by short-cutting the normal approval process and not fully answering questions about its structure in terms of foreign ownership and investment. By the way, have you written the DOT objecting to all of this? I have.

If you think our pilots think that they are "entitled" to move with ease from one place to another, then obviously you haven't spoken with any of our furloughees over the last few years. You probably haven't flown with the number of Ex-EAL guys that I have that can tell you how lucky they were to get a second shot considering what happened to many of their freinds after EAL's collapse. I might add, the ex-EAL guys to a man are among the best pilots I have ever flown with. If any group ever deserved an easy transition in this career, they did.

I give up.

You have nothing to apologize for. Good post. If anything, I should be apologizing because I'll bet I'm flying more hours a month than most of you guys. That I am not proud of. But, I voted for it so I get to live with it.

Guys all of this we are better then them is very silly. Why did we become pilots? Because we love to fly? That is why I did. 12 years ago my flying carrer was off to a great start I was very lucky and could not belive I was getting paid decent money to fly airplanes, I was 23 and would have done it for free. 12 years later I have lost two jobs because the company I worked for went under. I got what I thought was every pilots dream job only to be laid off in 2001. Now I have been working for Polar Air, Is Polar Air a great job no, but I am getting paid to do some very fun flying. The bottom line is we do this because we love to fly. This industry has been shakey for 30 years. South West is in good times, good for South West, Good for Jet Blue, Tuff times will come for them, Same goes for all the Majors and any airline in this country. We all need to stick together, be happy for the guys doing well, offer understanding to the guys that are hurting. Bottom line is that we will all experince it at some point. Are carrers are only as succesful as the last carrier we chose to work for.

Best of Luck to everyone
