I was told if I want to JS from CLT to SXM (St. Martin) I'll be subject to about $50 in fees. This will be with US Airways. Should I go ahead and list myself via the US Airways website the hub, or, as a pilot can i get this done without any taxes or fees involved?

Thanks

You are traveling internationally. There are ALWAYS departure or arrival taxes. Stop being cheap...you are already getting a free ride:)

Its not being cheap... Its being resourceful ;) Getting a free ride directly equates to being able to buy more cold beer upon arrival. Viva la Jumpseat!

Even as a jumpseater, on US Airways or any other airline, you have to pay the taxes for international flights.

This works out to be about $50 for CLT-SXM.

As far as I know, there is no way around it.

I don't blame the guy for trying...

Yeah, i know about the taxes.... Nothing in life is certain except for death and taxes.

What I've done sucessfully many times in the past is pay the taxes and get your jumpseat "tickets" ahead of time, but then try to jumpseat and not use them. If you get lucky and dont need them, then get a refund when you get home. I have about 50/50 luck so far. Last fall made it round trip to asia for free!
