Twice in the past month in SLC they have tried to charge my family more money to go through a different airport to get to the same destination. On the way back they needed to change their destination to a different one but within 100 miles and they still tried to charge them. I work for Comair and Delta's rules are that as long as the destination is less than 100 miles away then there is no additional charge. Anyone else having problems with this or maybe understand why they are trying to do this? It could make the difference someday if a buddy pass makes a flight or not.

It's not SkyWest it's Delta. Can't wait tell DEC 4th! We have to pay to ride on our own airplanes.

Call your Union rep....oh wait.

2 Different Issues

Changing a buddy pass to go through a different city to get to the same destination that increases trip mileage will cause a slightly higher fare. The calculation used to compute buddy pass fares does not ignore the connecting city (ies) in adding up mileage.

You can play with that on travelnet and see subtle differences (ie CVG-LAX vs. CVG-SLC-LAX) or substantial differences (CVG-LGA vs. CVG-ATL-LGA).

The other issue of within 100 miles is agent ignorance. I've seen them offer a $0.20 credit on a shorter trip but never done the reverse. There should be no change in fare unless, again, you are adding in a connecting city.

Very imperfect system. I think they do it to make everyone pay as if they are doing a stopover at the connecting city.

I wish buddy passes were still paper so I could burn mine when they come in the mail.

YEAH!! He'll make it 'all better!' Why, he'll just go in and demand that they....

I can agree with a little charge but the agent was talking $150 each to go through vegas. I did check on travelnet and it was around $10. They would have no problem with $10, but $150, I have no idea where the agent got that one.
