Howdy all,

Does anyone know the status on skyway airlines? Last I heard they were not doing great...but, that was a while ago. Does anyonw know if they are hiring, class dates, pay, minimums, domiciles? Do they like low timers? Any info would be great. PM me. Thanks a ton.

Got a friend there who told me they would be expanding with the Do-Jets across the ME routes early next year.

Hi!

THey are now called Midwest Connection, and the old MIdwest Express is now MIdwest Airlines.

It sounds like MidConn is very short of pilots and hiring a lot now. I also read that MidAir's CFO just resigned. THey are definitely NOT doing great.

they are doing much better than before. .
I believe they are happy to see the CFO go, they need new blood at Midwest. Also the marketing guy has quit. they have secured plenty of cash and will hang in better than most other airlines.

I have a relative that is a Captain at Midwest. He has been there a long time and is just about to retire. He did not understand why I wanted to interview at Midwest Connect (last week) because they still might not be around next year. Midwest hasn't made a profit in years. Apparently, Midwest has been breaking even the past few months, but no profit. Check out there financial info on their website.

Skyway Airlines d/b/a Midwest Connect is currently hiring pilots. Competetive mins are around 1600-2500 total/100-300 multi. (published mins are 700/50). As of now, little to no growth planned, but planned isn't always reality. The Midwest financial situation appears to be stabilizing. Time will tell how or when growth will occur.

The new pilot contract is helping overall...but the company has been short staffed for a number of months now...things should begin to improve in the 1st quarter. Sheduling situation has been marginal at best. More new contract benefits kick in late summer '04.

All crews based MKE and starting F/O pay is just under 18.00/hr. Plan on 75-80 hours of pay.

BTW-we are not called Midwest Connection, MidCon, or MidAir...when you do get an interview, avoid these mispronunciations.

Tried to find information on where to send an application/resume on the website but could not find an opening for a pilot position. I saw a lot of customer service positions.

could you give some information about where to send a resume?

just curious Skyway pilots....?

Do you guys have the MX problems that we see ACA have or is it jst ACA.

We see the DO-Jet broken all the time in BOS and CVG..? what gives?

Just wondering-

Is Skyway still hiring? I checked the website recently and don't see anything about pilot hiring. If they are, is the address above still current? There is a different address for HR on the website.

Thanks!

Still hiring

Yes we are still hiring and the address the flight tracker posted is good.
Anyone going to PHX for the Job fair we will have a booth set up and Captain George Velguth(chief pilot) and Mary Hess will both be there. Upgrades are going briskly we have Be-1900 drivers upgrading after 6-8 months, some senior FO's choosing to wait and see what happens with the DCI contract.

Good Luck to all

I'd say their going to do alright

I know midwest is calling back some of their furloughed pilots. Also, they just had a boost in the frequency of some of their flights. Both Midwest and Skyway have additions.Check out the article If they get the DCI deal Skyway could be doing really well, with short upgrade times.

A few Corrections

First off address the info to Ms. Stephanie Miller she is now in charge or pilot recruitment.

You need about ATP mins to get considered if you do not have anu internal recs. I got an interview for a qualified candidate that was below mins, but I dont know how easy it is to do that.

Financial situation is improving. First off we are adding frequency in 6 city pairs starting in June just on the Midwest Connect side.
GRB, ATW, MSP, IND, and a few others I cant remember.
The midwest side is starting to accept growth airplanes (717s) and have increased service from MKE-BOS, ATL and PHL (i think). PLus they have increased service from Kansas city to LGA and DCA (once again I believe but I am not positive.

Also, they have greatly diversified themselves and take the fancy saver service off leisure routes like Vegas, FL, DEN, SFO, LAX. The conference call that was online in Jan addressed these issues and to me it was a good change and makes sense in this business climate.

I BEG to differ the comp is doing poorly. They are adding routes, accepting growth airplanes, flying very short staffed on the connect and mainline side, diversifying their business plan to accomadate the changing economy, plus the economy is rebounding and business travel is coming back (our bread and butter). I believe midwest has an excellent product and I wish they were more aggresive bc they have a good niche and do things well.

PS I am biased I wil be the first to admit, but lets get all the facts straight

I apologize for my harsh tone. I realized the original posts were in Dec, and a lot has changed.

I'm an ACA guy, but according to our management we have the highest dispatch rate in the world with the Do-jets. Before we get too excited, this is just comparing Do-jet operators which there isn't too many out there.

I agree with what Illinois boy said..... Hey Dana, Hey Joe!

Yeah,

sorry, my apologies, that wasn't a stab at ACA.

In CVG, they are coming and going, it seems at a good rate. I guess I was just concerned if it was a general aircraft, or common problem throughout the fleet type.?

good luck though, especially with "I air"!!

I have heard from a couple pilots that the boots are not favorable...take it easy.

ilinipilot is a loser and doesn't know what he's talking about! :p Kidding man! Call me I'm in MKE for the night and you never answer anymore.

Anyone that can keep those things flying with any reliability ought to get a Golden Wrench award from the FAA. MMMM german enginering.
