I flew on a beautiful PSA CRJ-700 a few days back on my way to Sarasota from CLT and I spoke with the senior flight attendant. She said that PSA is waaaaay understaffed and that they have already exhuasted the USAirways mainline furloughee list with many, many openings. I guess the furlougees have either selected the EMB-170 at MidAtlantic or have gone to greener pastures (I am sure the low pay hasn't attracted many - plus, if I were a furloughee, I'd want EMB-170 time so that I could get hired by JetBlue...). Evidently, flights have been cancelled due to a lack of FOs. She hinted to me that PSA would need to hire many pilots off the street soon - that's why I am included this post on the board.

So, if you want to get hired into a nice, new (very nice interior) PSA CRJ-700, I would suggest that you direct your resumes to PSA quickly. With the extreme pilot shortage, you might actually move up to get some PIC time in relatively short order. If I were a Piedmont or Allegheny pilot, I'd get out of the Dash and move over to the CRJ-200/700.

My compliments to the crew of the PSA CRJ-700 - it was a great flight on a brand new aircraft. Personally, I'd consider applying myself to get some time in that great aircraft...

Correct Statement. The CRJ is very understaffed and the APL list is dryed up for PSA unless mainline has more pilot cuts again. Projections for the next the rest of the year, show the original PSA FO's all being Captains by March or April of next year.
The company also want's to start typing the FO's in the CRJ. This does not include the new hires.

I had a friend of mine interview with them a couple of weeks ago. I believe he got the job offer, but just couldn't justify the pay cut. Sure, they have nice jets but that doesn't necessarily put dinner on the table.

Anybody know if the mins on their website are set in stone or not?? I've got the 1500/250 met, but I haven't done the ATP thing yet, and of course the lack of a 4 yr. degree is still haunting me. Akron would be nice as it's close to home.

Akron's future is unknown right now and is only one of the two Dornier bases left. If it remains a CRJ base seems to change daily.

The mins are set in stone unfortunatly.

I don't mean to be rude...but doesn't the term..."Off the street" or "Street Captains" refer to airlines hiring qualified captains off of the street, over staff that currently works at an airline? What the heck is a "street first officer"?

I think he meant as opposed to bringing on furloughed UAIR pilots...

You can be sure they are going to get a resume from me this week. You guys have been taunting me all year as I hold short at CAK for the landing Bluestreakxxx on final 23. If they'll have me I can't wait to share a cockpit with you guys. After taking a year out of my job search to help out in the family biz, I think my resume is is going to be like the plague on HR departments fax machines from here on out. :) It's just too bad I won't get the chance to actually fly one of the 328's that are being tucked away back on the ramp at CAK, they look like a sweet bird.......

PSA interviewing this week

PSA is interviewing in Ft. Lauderdale this Wednesday and Thursday (June 23rd and 24th).

The Mins posted are the bear minimums. There used to be a deal back with UND and Purdue years ago, but that has ceased. If the mins are not met, they will not look at your resume.

Got this info from one of the HR guys.

I think the firm has changed, according to the person doing the interviews, send it in the worst they can say is no thanks.

As far as the US Air mainline APL, I'm on it and I did get the FO offer but no offer for capt as of yet. It is true that many of the APL guys are either with Southwest, JB, Airtran, or like myself have found a great 91 job. Most APL guys might consider a capt slot but very few will go for the FO spot. Most of us are older now with families and alot of luggage and 30K a year is not an option anymore. A capt position in the 50-60K might attract a few till we figure what this crazy industry is doing. Good luck to all.
