I flew on a beautiful PSA CRJ-700 a few days back on my way to Sarasota from CLT and I spoke with the senior flight attendant. She said that PSA is waaaaay understaffed and that they have already exhuasted the USAirways mainline furloughee list with many, many openings. I guess the furlougees have either selected the EMB-170 at MidAtlantic or have gone to greener pastures (I am sure the low pay hasn't attracted many - plus, if I were a furloughee, I'd want EMB-170 time so that I could get hired by JetBlue...). Evidently, flights have been cancelled due to a lack of FOs. She hinted to me that PSA would need to hire many pilots off the street soon - that's why I am included this post on the board.
So, if you want to get hired into a nice, new (very nice interior) PSA CRJ-700, I would suggest that you direct your resumes to PSA quickly. With the extreme pilot shortage, you might actually move up to get some PIC time in relatively short order. If I were a Piedmont or Allegheny pilot, I'd get out of the Dash and move over to the CRJ-200/700.
My compliments to the crew of the PSA CRJ-700 - it was a great flight on a brand new aircraft. Personally, I'd consider applying myself to get some time in that great aircraft...
