I commute from SEA-TAC to Detroit and "Iam NOT eligible" for a Port of Seattle employee parking pass since my airline (Mesaba) doesn't serve SEA, main line Northwest dose but that got me know where. The nice lady at the parking office told me I can park in the parking terminal and pay 20$ a day. Until my airline starts flying to SEA.

Any Seattle commuter in the same boat? What have you been doing?

I have been scraping up rides to this point but need to find a place to park.

Maybe find a hotel in the area that does a park-and-ride deal. My hotel at PDX does it for 6 bucks a day and shuttle to and from the airport, don't know what it would be up there in SEA though.......

How about Metro? I used to take the bus to work when I lived there. The 194 is the express from the bus tunnel to Seatac; 30 minute transit time. The 174 makes a few more stops on the way, I think it takes about 45 mins. They don't run all night, unfortunately. You don't live in the Mount Baker area of Seattle by I-90, do you?

I've dealt with this issue for years, and I've yet to find a way to get employee parking. Some others with my company have it. I guess they got it a while ago, before that guy Marvin came to work in the parking office .

Unfortunately, also, is the fact that since Sea-Tac has no real long term parking, thus the area hotels are all in the parking business, and are not inclined to give too much of a break.

That said, the best deal I have been able to find is with the SkyWay Inn south of the airport. Their daily rate is (I think) $5.95 a day, but I was able to get month-by-month parking for $100/month. So if you are parking more than about 17 days a month, this would be the way to go.

I am moving to seattle next week and I have found the same problems, SeaTacPark.com is the best deal I can find. The city needs some light rail!!!

Thank's all, I am still working on it.

LAXsaabdude, wow 100$ a month that is 1200$ a year to park crazy there has to be a better way.

I think Iam going to talk to the NorthWest station manager and see if he can pull any strings or write me a letter or something from what I here the employee lot that we can't park in is never close to full so capacity is not the problem.

I have been taking the bus for six months now and it is very dependable. The 574 takes exactly an hour from Lakewood to Seatac with few stops. There are a few park and rides that it goes through on the way. I parked at someones house and walked for a while also.

Believe me, I tried that too. I got a letter from AA saying I was an employee, but, that I would be paying for the parking (not AA). Marvin took one look at that and said "No, the company HAS to pay for it."

I hear the same thing. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

Seattle Parking

Well I don't know who Marvin is, but I work for Skywest and I am paying for my own parking so that can't be a hard rule. I just showed my ID and it was accepted.

I would suggest that if you don't like the answer you got the first time you stopped by, try again. Someone different may be working there...

Good luck.

I'll have to keep trying back. It seems like every time I try, I keep getting Marvin. Seems like he's been there for years, and never goes home!

The rule is as long as your company lands there, you can show up to the office and pay for your own parking. I got different answers from different people depending on who picked up the phone at first.

When I called, I didnt get the answer I wanted. Since then, I just went up to the parking office window with my airline ID and they let my pay for the first month. Now each month is renewed online. I guess as long as the lots are not overcapacity, they will allow the rules to be bent...
