I am a new member of Flightinfo and I am very excited about this information resource. I am currently looking into applying to a number of the Frax companies and I will have a few questions over the next few weeks. Questions for Citationshares pilots related to the CJ1:

1. Percentage of newhires who are placed into the CJ1 vs. the Bravo vs. the Excel

2. For current Ciationshares CJ1 pilots: how do you like the airplane vs. others you have flown and...

3. Most important: types of routes flown (short hop or longer) - can you give me an example of a recent schedule and destinations flown. Also, how far west is the CJ1 flown (examples)?

Thanks for the info and for taking my question. The CJ1 looks like a fun airplane and I would love to fly it at Citationshares if I get hired at some point...

Cheers

There are other fractionals that fly the CJs. Are you only interested in Citationshares?

Hello English,

Yes, I am aware that Flight Options also uses Citationjets. Actually, I'd appreciate any of the above information for both Flight Options and Citationshares....

Same questions as above... I am quite interested in schedules and examples of destinations served - what type of variety did you find in your last week-long trip?

All replies welcome! Thanks!

Cheers

Sorry I can't help you with Citationshares or Flight Options.

There are other smaller fractional operators that fly CJs, besides Flight Options and Citationshares. In fact, the last trip I had through Columbus, Ohio, the bigwigs at Netjets took a tour of my aircraft...I guess they were deciding whether to add the CJ to their fleet.

I work for a small fractional, what is known as a regional fractional. We fly mainly throughout the Southwestern U.S. Most trips are day trips, because frankly the CJ doesn't really have the range to go very far if passengers are on board (the Ohio trip mentioned above occured while working for another company).

There are two regional fractional operators in my area that fly CJs. At my company, I fly two or three days per week, usually a day trip. The only overnights I've had in the past four months have been a four day trip to Cabo, a Vegas overnight, a San Francisco overnight and a San Diego overnight. We have only three CJs, so it is a small company where the pilots know each other, the airplanes and the owners well. It's almost like a corporate gig, except we have multiple owners, but it is not as impersonal as some of the larger fractionals. The pay is substantially better than at Flight Options or Citationshares, but most flying is single pilot.

Pros and cons to every job, I know. This one is perfect for me because I'm on the West Coast and rarely have to pack a suitcase. After being in the regionals I learned to hate being on the road for four and five day stretches. I'm also not flying much. At one point in my career that would have been a negative, but I love having a well-balanced life that isn't all about work.
