Hey guys,

Using the list of regionals below, please feel free to answer as many questions as you can.

AWAC
PSA
Pinnacle
Republic
Horizon
ASA
Comair
Colgan

1.) Which airline(s) would have the fastest upgrades(approximate times would be greatly appreciated)?

2.) Which airlines would allow for new hires to be based at domiciles on the East Coast(e.g. MA, MD, NY, NNJ, PA, FL, VA etc) either due to lack of competition for those bases or a general tendency for new hires to be placed there.

3.) Which of those airlines are performing poorly and are likely to go under?

4.) Which major airlines give preferential hiring for those airlines?

5.) What is a typical avg schedule for a new hire F/O for each airline?(e.g. 4ON, 2OFF etc)

6.) What is a typical avg schedule for a recent upgrade junior capt for each airline?(e.g 4ON, 2OFF etc)

7.) Which of those airlines have a sound reputation for(relatively speaking

) treating their pilots reasonably well and having trade unions?

8.) How many of you guys have been trained and/or instructed at Ari-Ben Aviator Inc?.....if any...plz PM...I would like to hear your experiences.

Your feedback would be appreciated.

how about doing a little research like.... oh i don't know... reading the 34530459734986793 threads on here that cover all of those topics

They won't take your money and run, so that's saying something. As for the rest, worry about forced landings, vmc demonstrations, and shooting approaches, that sort of stuff. There is plenty of time for the rest later, concentrate on the basics. If you can fly the hell out of a Piper Arrow, you can succeed anywhere.

Too many new FOs whining about upgrade and their commute and their pay, and whatever else when they can't land an aircraft in a crosswind, and can't talk to ATC in a coherent manner.

I commend you for caring about trade unionism, all on your list have the legal right to collectively bargain except Colgan (and I'll gratuitously mention SkyWest, even though they aren't on the list).

Nobody's going to go under in the forseeable future. Major's preferential hiring practices are not something you want to bet your career on, as they are notoriously fickle. I was in one of those preferential groups, checked the box, waited 2 years for the interview, then didn't get the job anyway. Colgan/Continental and one you missed with a Newark base, ExpressJet/Continental.

Christ, airlinepilotcentral.com . We are not here to do your research for 10 different airlines. One step at a time... get the multi first.

To be brief:
Possibly
No
Ehhhhh
Yes
No
No
YGTSM (that would be a no)

I don't mean to be rude here, but it seems you have been "lurking" for 2 years with only 2 posts. Both have been this year and ask questions. By now, you should know how to search and read previous posts. It would be respectful to add useful info the forum before asking us to due your dirty work.

Anyway, even though you didn't ask, I will add my 2 cents on Piedmont. For the questiosn you ask, it may be a gamble, but this whole industry is so why not at least consider them

1.) Which airline(s) would have the fastest upgrades(approximate times would be greatly appreciated)?
Probably not fast, but if you have the time (3,000 hrs) and they actually do need street CAs in a year or so, it may be a gamble. See seperate thread on this issue.

2.) Which airlines would allow for new hires to be based at domiciles on the East Coast(e.g. MA, MD, NY, NNJ, PA, FL, VA etc) either due to lack of competition for those bases or a general tendency for new hires to be placed there.
SBY, always getting newhires or should be able to hold it within 2 months. It's within 1 hour tops of the East coast.

3.) Which of those airlines are performing poorly and are likely to go under?
Not likely to go under. Money making WO of Airways that will be around in some shape or another for the foreseeable future.

4.) Which major airlines give preferential hiring for those airlines?
Pref hiring with US Airways. If you just want to get to a major, PDT would be an excellent opportunity. I see the pref hiring going very junior since the flow through will be a while in the works. No minimum time at PDT before you leave.

5.) What is a typical avg schedule for a new hire F/O for each airline?(e.g. 4ON, 2OFF etc)
FO schedule would be reserve for a short time, if any. While on rsv, work 20-21 days/month. Most 2 day breaks with one 4 day break each month. Not a bad schedule. After that bid for schedule and expect 12-13 days off and a variey of trips.

6.) What is a typical avg schedule for a recent upgrade junior capt for each airline?(e.g 4ON, 2OFF etc)
Typical CA upgrade schedule varies. Expect rsv for a while and do all sorts of duty, even as FO. Could change if/when they have to hire street CAs as discussed above. Still 20-21 days off/month. Better to live in/near base for any rsv time.

7.) Which of those airlines have a sound reputation for(relatively speakinghttp://www.airlinepilotforums.com/im...lies/smile.gif ) treating their pilots reasonably well and having trade unions?
PDT has ALPA. Union treated fair, you just have to know the contract.

8.) How many of you guys have been trained and/or instructed at Ari-Ben Aviator Inc?.....if any...plz PM...I would like to hear your experiences.
Not me or anyone I know.
