OK Gulfstream200, Great answers so far. One more question. What do you guys do for a brief and or SOP with reference to portable electronic devices. Turn them off for TO/landing? Use them when ever you want? 91.21 Is pretty vague. Thanks

We have standard briefing cards. We also have the FAA/DOT Hazmat guide for crewmembers laminated to brief or cover any Hazmats pax may unwillingly know about, this also covers electronic devices I believe. I can guarantee you this was lost the day after our audit (lol)...but the box got checked...."How can you identify Hazmats and what is your procedure for dealing with them?"...

Our F/A covered the Section 8 audit protocol stuff, she knows where everything is in detail. Went very quick.

We do, however, avoid charging laptop batteries on-board. Battery fires were a big concern with one of our pilots, so our pax plug in but leave the battery out...and honestly, our pax don't travel with computers anyhow, I have never seen one onboard....so its a non-issue.

You gotta be ready for this audit soon, LOL.

Pre audit in 2 weeks. That will give a good gauge on where we are. PITA. Thanks for the great help.

Agree PITA but good just to get it done was my thought also...we had a slow month or two so I just hit it pretty steady.

You will likely be over-prepared, which is fine. Remember that they wont tell you how to run your operation. There was a few of there suggestions/requirements that we just said "no we dont/wont do that" and it was just fine...others were just worth adapting to.

Enjoy!....:)

How many laptop battery-fires have you and at home while plugged in? Or at the hotel? Something unique about that 115 outlet in the bird?

What audit are you talking about?

Not my idea...but since you ask how many?...I don't even want ONE on-board anything I'm flying.

You can google the NTSB Lithium Battery Tests if you care to...highly doubt you could put one out. Its not a new issue, but of course not something I actively worry about. I have never seen our pax with a computer anyhow.

BJ800 - I believe he is prepping for his ISBAO Stage I.
