Midwest Airlines announced yesterday that it would be recalling 40 Pilots by the end of 2005. This is due to an increase in aircraft utilization and additional deliveries of B717 for the year.

19 Captain upgrade and 21 F/O positions are to be filled by year-end.

Its great news for all Midwest furloughed pilots, and all the best to all pilots out there on furlough.

Ok, these numbers are Approximate.

Least seniority number in ground school right now is 339

Total pilots on seniority list are 380

18 Pilots (approximately) have by-passed the recall process

That means: 59 are still out

Please keep in mind that these numbers are approximate.

Regards

It's about time...now for the real question, will Midwest survive? They seem to be bleeding worse than ever. It will be hard to decide to go back when things look so bleak. I'm sure those at Midwest remember last years recall (or was that in 03?) and re-furlough a month or two later.

That’s a good question Flydaplane, but it’s the one no one has an answer to, I have no idea if Midex will survive or not but after going through two furloughs myself I know anything can happen. I know its a VERY hard decision to either come back or by-pass, but even if you bypass you will have to make a decision by year end to come back or not. (That’s provided they recalled 40 pilots as they plan to do).

I guess we all just have to wait and see

Regards

I AM NO EXPERT ON THE CURRENT CONTRACT.. but this is the way I understand the process, IF the recalls go as planned I will fall into one of the 40, but if I bypass (I'm not planning on it) and the guys below me accept then I can sit on the sidelines a while longer. I have a year in which to bypass, what happens if there are no more recalls immediately after my year is up? As I understand it the next recall after my year is up is mandatory, or if they hit the bottom of the list and work back up the recall is mandatory (unless you want to resign). Got a good paying job now which I HATE, but couldn't find something like this again if I get furloughed again. Decisions, decisions...I wish Midwest would add a few more Western cities and make my commute easier!

Hey,
Don't forget all the money that MEH will save by having Mid-connect due ramping and caterring services at home. While I'm not a big fan of this it will save a large amount of monies for the company.

TH and MEH have allways been a very conservative company. Did they ever implement the money saving techniques developed by the MEH MEC?
