What is the word on the number of pilots NWA is going to ask to come over. When will this start? Do you think many of the career Mesaba CA's will take the move?

Three a-month starting January 1st is the latest word. This will continue until September, 2008. After that, 8 or 9 per month. Still a few things to work out between XJ, NWA, and associated ALPAs. These will be resolved by arbitration by the end of November I believe. My guess, not too many of the top 200 in the company will be moving over. Could be mistaken. The dreaded Mesaba seat-lock is a tough point cause XJ management wants the XJ seat lock to prevent pilots from being able to flow up until their respective seat-lock is expired from XJ. (Among other issues.)

I think it would be the highest of injustices if we are prevented to flow for a seat lock. There will be some corruption named if its done that way. Then again, our airline careers are full of injustices!

Brings up an interesting point though, all those senior enough to bid the 900 capt are, I'm assuming, the same people up for the flow-through...Are they all locked for 24 months and unable to move now?

Sucks if true, having to give up good money for flow. Personally, I can't see it happening for a lot of those guys, there seems to be some pretty good pay at stake in the 900.

Wouldn't XJ want the senior guys to flow up ASAP? They are the ones getting 5 weeks of vacation, 125% 401K match, 15+ year longevity pay ect. ect. The senior guys/gals who are seat locked are just as replacable as the junio non seat locked guys. WTF Over.

You'd sure think so.

That may have been the thinking by managment in the past, but I think Mesaba has learned the value of experienced pilots from all the srcew ups at Pinnacle. I really do think it's not about the money this time

Yes, however XJ mgmt just spent 50k to upgrade a guy, so that means they would have to have a 25k/yr difference between the two for it to make sense to let the senior guy flow.

Doesn't it seem strange that if the lock takes place (hope it doesn't), that the folks flowing would the 2+ yr Saab Capt's.... Just about all CRJ pilots are still within a 2 year window save for a handful of -200 guys who heldover from CRJ200/2005-gate

I hope that group who will make the decision about the flow has their heads screwed on right!

There are actually quite a few in the top 150 who want to flow to NWA, most of whom are seat locked. If it is anything other than seniority based I think there will be riot and revolt. Stay tuned.

Here is the thing with the seat lock applying to the flow.... If the seatlocks do apply to the flow that will effectively block the flow for a year plus. All the 900 captains are locked (except maybe 8 or so that were the 200 captains that just did differences training of which I doubt any would flow) There aren't many Saab captains that aren't seatlocked at this point and from what I understand in order to flow you have to be a captain so any fo wanting to flow has to take the upgrade (to any of the planes with accompanying 2 year lock) So there are hardly any people that could flow to NWA if the seatlocks are used for the flow. Which in a training costs issue is exactly what management wants, that's why they got that concession in the bankruptcy. Granted I dont think they intended on it causing street captains on the Saab but they certanily did intend on keeping the Saab captains locked on the Saab so that it reduced Initial course training events.
