Hey guys, I’m currently on the August 21st furlough list. Like everyone else that has stuck around I had hoped that all of the bankruptcy profiteering would have been settled by now and the company would get some airplanes so that they could stay in business. But there seems to be no sense of urgency from management to do anything but sit on their hands and ask for 19.4%

I was just wondering what everyone was planning on doing. Are you going to just wait it out on unemployment and hope the company is still around? Go to a different airline and hold onto your seniority number so that you can come back. Or are you just going to throw the towel in and leave mesaba and (if your smart) get out of the Northwest umbrella?

Anyone else who has experienced this at another airline please feel free to chime in.

I am on that list and am planning on hanging out for a little while. Maybe use my travel privilidges and collect unemployment. I am getting a little nervous about how long its going to be, probably won't wait longer than a couple of months. But I think there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Manangement has been stuck in limbo since NWA labor is dragging on. Mesaba might disappear unless by some chance NWA has a hangar full of aircraft hidden somewhere. Otherwise, even compass is not an alternative to contracting out another airline that can get these airplanes.

Maybe not the information you are looking for but SkyWest is looking for pilots. Of the Mesaba pilots that have come over, they feel our program has some strong merits.

Some "real" progress is being made in negotiations and they didn't publish the realignment award today. Not sure what it all means but I believe there is hope.

Just a matter of time before they open the hangar doors in YUL and roll out th 80 705's we are getting.

Carl Pohlad owns the Twins and they are suddenly the best team in baseball. I'm sure he has the same plans for XJ.

I doubt carl pohlad even knows where he is, that guy has to be like a million years old by now.

He might not know where he is but I'm sure he knows where every penny of his is.

I think he was around 60 when he was on trial in Nuremberg.

...and where all the dead bodies of people who crossed him are too.

Hey YPF are you saying you dont know where NW has a hanger full of airplanes?

I got furloughed on Valentine's Day. I decided to wait it out for a few months but got sick of waiting. I'm starting class with Republic on Monday.

not that it matters, but we heard in class today that they had the posting all done, but not finalized and no one knew why they could not get it out, but everything management is doing now is to stall, what are they up too? but i sure want them to cancell this class, since i think there will be a lot bumped out of minneapolis, and some layoffs....but Ron J said that there will be some more furloughs......:( or i mean, :) since i just want it to end, and i can watch from the outside, instead of memphis

Got the pink slip on Valentines Day, signed by Special Ed Davidson. I really hope he gets crabs.

I waited it out on unemployment for 3 months before I decided to send my stuff in at Republic and got in there. I see it this way; if they were going to start calling us back...would it be worth going back to? I said no. I'm glad to get out from the NWA umbrella.

I was furloughed way back on Jan. 9th. I planned on waiting it out, give it six months, but now here I am still waiting and wondering if i should have just moved on right away instead of looking at the halve full glass. Now I've gotten used to being around family and friends on a regular basis and actually living comfortably with a little green in my pocket. It's hard to kill this flying bug:smash:

I was content to ride the pine and collect unemployment. I actually had a company at YIP email me and offer me a job. (found my resume from the unemployment website) I didn't resign my seniority and do plan on returning to XJ if there is anything worth returning to, unless Spirit calls. If that doesn't happen then the wife and I will have to have a long talk about things....:erm:

I got furloughed in Feb. waited a couple months then gave up. I start Shuttle America IOE on the 170 next week. Quite a few Mesaba ex-pats here at Republic and the recuiter told me she would love to see more Mesaba resumes. They don't make you resign your number here but there is a 2 year training contract pro-rated at 15K.

I heard he always wanted to get into aviation after he witnessed the wright brothers first flight when he was 35.

Tell me where it is and I will look into it.

Jan '05 hire, worked in IT for a little while till it drove me nuts (made more in 4 months doing that than a full year at XJ though)

Now giving it another try in SLC...

Soon to be furloughed, with no plans for the future. My pay is easily replaced, so I'm not too worried. Ideally, i'd like to find a non-airline flying job.
