The only school I see that would be "affordable is Ariben Aviator down in Ft. Pierce florida....word of caution...ALL large 141 flight schools have their bad areas...I've heard lots of crap about all of them. But their program is supposedly under $40,000. And no simulators...but I heard bad aircraft and scheduling. Remember, as cheaper you go well you get what you pay for. I cannot say that emergencies in aircraft are good things but one does need to practive and know how to handle situations....But as most have said, try FBO's. You'll meet a ton of Great Instructors plus you can structure your 61 training how ever you want. You could also try a few schools here in Tampa. CAMS flight and Clearwater Aviation (141)at St. Pete Cleawater Airport....Soon CAMS will be 141 but you can still do 61 as an option. At CAMS their are 2 retired Airline Pilots and I think 2 military instuctors, all great instruction. But what ever you do, DO NOT WAIT TOO LATE!! Now you are 27....don't start at age 31....DO IT NOW!!!
