That many guys on the street?

Hi All,

Just curious if others feel the same way as i do......
I find it amazing that companies set requirements such as .......... must be typed in global and gv to even apply for the position.......... or must be typed, current, have x amount of hours in type must have "international" experience...or .......etc.etc well you get the drift ......... are there that many talented and versatile pilots on the street? or is this a wish list that the companies dont expect to get ? if the latter is true then why do they say do not apply unless..........

feedback welcomed just tryin to figure out what is really wanted / expected in these posts

Well, like the AirTran Part 121 PIC requirement, they can ask for whatever they want and in this environment, probably get it.

hmmmmm

I guess but i find it hard to believe that there are even several unemployed pilots out there that have both a global and GV rating with time in each...but thats why i asked maybe i dont know how bad it is ..........

Job offers are not for unemployed only!
This must be a great opportunity to fly both for the same company!

What I don't understand is why they don't promote one of the FO's.

Many times it's advantagous to add outside blood at the captain level. Also could be they are top-heavy with FO's that they do not want to upgrade.

Could be a bunch of stuff. Begs the question to be asked during the interview.

I did some part time for them when they had the G4.

Their are no FO's everyone is a captain

True. Most high-end corporate operations, such as Dream Works, crew their planes with two type-rated, high-time captains. Although to the newbees out there it may seem like high qualifications, there are many pilots who are dual-rated in large, ultra long range aircraft; and, as we all know, always looking....

Newbie.....hmmmmmmm well i have been called alot of things but not newbie ....well at least for not for the last 4000 hours of part 135 work...but hey what do i know ...i guess its all relative.......... my point was that in my "newbie" opinion they seem like high minimums............. i am curious how many guys out there are dual rated in the global and g5 .. it seems to me not many but as a "newbie" i must be mistaken..................

4,000 hrs 135...I'm sure that impresses someone, but not this one. Not to put you down, I'm sure you're a great guy (benifit of the doubt), but if you're not rated in a long range large jet, or if you don't have over 10,000 hours, you ARE somewhat of a newbie in this segement of the industry. Ask yourself this, if you were Spielberg, would your rather have a 15,000 hour pilot with 30 years experience and 5,000 hours in a GV flying internationally, or, would you rather have a 'newbie' with no GV time and 7,000 TT. In their world you gotta pay to play. And they pay, so they can play at the highest level. I've put in my dues and so have the boys that will get that job - if you don't like it, call Spielberg yourself and tell him off...no one here can do a thing about it for you.

Nobody on earth has 5000 hours in a GV, even GVFlyer !
This aircraft has been in service for 6-7 years.
