Jeppesen released a new iPad app today that is pretty much an iPad version of Flight Deck for the PC. It includes all of the textual data, approach charts, and enroute charts (high/low).

All approach charts are geo-referenced and will work if you have either the bluetooth or other hard mounted gps units.

Definitely an improvement, but Foreflight is still a far superior product for domestic stuff. You'd think a company with that kind of money could compete.

Having put it to the test today on a 4h15 flight from SDL to PAJN it worked really well. The approach charts are currently not Geo-Referenced... There is no XM... an you have to manually enter Departures and Arrivals, but it does accept Jet/Victor routing.

It scales down nicely. I prefer to use it in a North Up view until we got into the terminal area then I changed it to Track Up.

Remember that it is a new program and like all new programs, and anything that Jeppesen does, it will have teething issues.

I know that many are using the Foreflight program... The problem is that 60% of what we do is International. Not to mention the fact that we have not looked at NOS charts since our initial instrument rating... Call me lazy if you wish, but why change something that you know works well and more importantly is safe.

XM Weather will be nice, but I am not sure that there will be an easy solution for the 900EX (Dassault can be a difficult company to work with) so in the mean time... We now have a 3rd layer of excellent situational awareness, almost to the point of overload.

Just my opinion...

Any feedback on Wing-X?? We also prefer to stay with Jepp., but ready for XM on the i-pad now. How about a GPS for the i-pad with a heated windshield??

Unless there is something wrong with my install, the JeppFD doesnt have anything other than airport charts and a basic map outside of the USA (was told it was world wide). Anyway else notice this on the map page if you go to Asia or middle east ...you can even put a from and to airport in the route as it cant find them....

Actually I have the other parts of the world ie no North or Sth America, but everything else... have the plates on the app just no maps or airways
