Aloha is calling Mainland experience 1st and a couple Island Air pilots each class. As long as you have the LOR of 2 or 3 Aloha pilots Island isn't gonna get you there any faster.

Local?

Nalo Boy said:
not anymore, last few classes are 95% local. Theyre switching gears i guess.

I'm not so sure this is a true statement. Seems to me that we are hiring furloughed mainlanders for the most part.

well, i can only speak for my class of course, but weve got only one furloughed mainlander, who ended up bieng very lucky.

of course, were ALL very lucky.

Nalo Boy, I wouldn't be too proud that 95% of newhires are/were local. Believe me... we want furloughees/mainland/military pilots flying for us more so than local flavor that's never flown anywhere else, and I think Peter Clark knows this. Interisland flying is out the door, and mainland flying is it. While our local pilots are some of the nicest guys/gals I've ever met, a great majority simply lack experience to fly in crappy weather/icing and high-density ATC environment, and believe me, HNL is far from high-density. If we have a hull loss, we're all gonna be on the street.... In other words, we need EXPERIENCED people with experience in the mainland, and especially those who have flown around in the Northeast corridor.

Curious as to what you Aloha guys are hearing about classes beyond the April 5th class. Is there talk/plans of a May class at Aloha? And while I am soliciting information, does anyone know when the gov't is going to announce who is getting the DCA slots?

Thanks,

CWASaab

There's currently a small pool (puddle?) of folks waiting for a class after April. DCA decision will probably drive how soon they start. I'd guess if AQ gets DCA, there will be a May and a June class. Just a guess. Look to hear about the DCA thing within a week or so.
