Looking for some part time international flying or crop dusting experience/training in Florida.

I was looking ar Air Serv to get some international experience. Do they take part timers or is it full time only? For example, a month there and a month back in the states. Something that would allow me to keep my current job and fly around on time off.

Next one. Anyone know of any dusting work I could do in South Florida on my days off. Maybe work as a helping hand in exchange for some time and training. Maybe at Bell Glade or Immokalee.

Young Eager Commercial Pilot (with fantastic Eastern European breasts): "I want to learn how to fly a bug sprayer."

Ag Pilot Employer: "OK, you'll need 3000 total hours of aerial agricultural application time and three Space Shuttle landings in the past 90 days."

Young Eager Commercial Pilot: "But I don't have any ag time. That's why I'm asking you to let me mix chemicals, wash planes, or toss salad in order to learn about ag flying and get those hours."

Ag Pilot Employer: "I understand, and I am willing to help you. However the 3000 hours of ag time and the Space Shuttle landings are not waivable."

Young Eager Commercial Pilot: "OK ... let me get this straight ... I need 3000 total and three Space Shuttle landings to be qualified to learn to spray bugs? But if I had that 3000 hours of ag time, I wouldn't have to toss salad to learn ag flying!"

Ag Pilot Employer: "Hey ... you're catching on."

Young Eager Commercial Pilot: "So I guess the current crop (LOL! Get it? 'Crop'? :D) of ag pilots will be the last, since no else will ever be allowed to learn to spray bugs with an Air Tractor again? What will farmers do after you're all dead or at least wearing diapers in the nursing home and drooling into your soup?"

Ag Pilot Employer: "We're working on that. Now ... about that salad tossing ..."

Nothing in the Immokalee or Belle Glade area, all of the jobs are locked up tight.

Snakum, it's the insurance companies that dictate the minimal amount of required time, not the operator.

I started out on the ground mixing and loading, chased birds off of sweet corn (don't laugh, I actually made good money in that little Champ) and worked my way into flying. Also, I do believe if you went to certain ag schools some insurance companies will waive the minimal time. I don't know if they still do this or not.
 
The thousand hours is required to be insurable as an aerial applicator.
New pilots start and get killed every year. Few operators are rich enough, and smart enough to endure such a loss.

Oh I have no doubt that is the case, nor was I diss'n Avbug, either. The insurance companies are the reason I will only be logging sole manipulator time in King Airs and Barons for a very long time. The insurance minimums are getting crazy (Baron PIC requires 1000 ME, 250 B58 PIC [B55 counts for squat], and sim school :eek: ) and will relgate many of us up-and-comers to the right seat for years.

My little humorous rant is to illustrate just how crazy it is getting. No one I know who owns or manages a Baron will let me near the left seat without times very close to those above (freight companies are an exception of course, I'm talking part 91), but where will I get the B58 time if I can't fly one due to insurance? I'll tell you where ... in the right-hand seat. Fly 500 hours per year and you might have 250 hours of sole manip PIC if all goes exactly as planned (prolly not).

Where you gonna get a right seat job in a Dromader? :(

(SRV is the MAN! I sold my Les Paul and my Explorer in 1990 and bought two 63 re-issue Strats after I heard 'Texas Flood' for the first time. I haven't owned anything but Strats since. :D)

You know BigD, you really are a fcuk. Did you run out of little children to beat up? Did your daddy beat you and make you do dirty things at night? Get a life man. Pilots who are on the outside of GIA think that they wrote the bible on flying and all GIA pilots are some kind of idiots. Constructive words would be a little more helpful.

PS, I forgot that you never had to make a monetary exchange in exchange for training in an aircraft. You are also most righteous.

Yeah, I can be a fcuk on occasion. That much is true.

But why get all defensive? You paid to get experience in the 1900, and now you're looking to do the same in a crop duster. What did I say that was inaccurate?

I mean hell, I could have said that you paid to get experience in the 1900 at the expense of other pilots in the industry, but I didn't.

I don't play but I sure do like to crank SRV up on my 300 wpc system. ;)

I have everything SRV has put out, both audio and video....sure was a shame to have him gone at such a young age. Somebody we may want to keep an eye on is Henry Garza from the Los Loney Boys, he's pretty good and imo has the ingredients to be extremely good. Also another is Jimmy D. Lane, his latest album was recorded with Double Trouble, good tunes.
