I fly out of Hillsboro, OR. I see 3 Intel planes coming and going. Does anyone know who to contact about flying for Intel? I understand it used to be Net-Jets, but may be another company now. If anyone on this forum flew for Intel, I'd like to hear from you.

Thanks,

RS

I fly into Hillsboro quite frequently and have inquired about the planes in that hangar. They are indeed Intel airplanes. 800xp, gulfstream 4, and a global ex. I have wondered how to get in contact with them as well. Your best bet is to ask the line guys at Global aviation. However, they are very hesitant to tell you anything. Maybe some of the Nike pilots can tell us something since they are right across the field. I will definitely ask them next time I'm there and if I hear anything I will PM you.

If anyone else knows anything please let us know!

Put on best suit and with CV in hand go to the hangar and introduce youself to the chief pilot. If he isn't there, ask his name and mailing address and Ph number and call him and ask for a courtesy interview to discuss aviation, if he is hard to get a hold of, then keep calling until you think you are being a pest. If no luck, wait a month and do it all again.

Eventually, it will get you somewhere.

I think he's talking about the Embraer 135's and the Beech 1900.........

There were some openings at Williams/Gateway in PHX a few months back. They run a E-135 on a corporate shuttle. I think pay starts about $35k.TC

Yeah, and it's not really Intel, but an acft mgmt company. ADI, ABI, something like that...

This is somewhat dated, but might head you in the right direction. I flew the Intel people on a shuttle between Sacramento Executive and San Jose International from mid 92 to early 93 and then some part time until late 93. We used two EMB-110s. The company that ran them was Patterson Aviation at SAC. Intel did not own the airplanes. In the mid 90s that contract went to another outfit out of Mather AFB ( don't know the civilian name for it ) and they initially used Jetstreams  . A good friend of mine from WestAir days was involved with them. I believe they lost the contract to someone else when the EMB-135s came into the picture. The 135s were/are used for shuttle between California and Oregon, much like HP does. Not sure if they are still doing the SAC-SJC shuttle.

Intel is big on contracting. A lot of the people who rode on the airplane had been with Intel as contractors for many years. They seemed to take the same view with the airplanes.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that Intel does not have any airplanes other than the shuttle operation.

I believe Intel has 5 or 6 EMB-135/shuttles and used to be on EJM's 135 certificate out of LUK. Although all of their aircraft were based on the west coast. As of this past year they dropped EJM and went over to ADI's certificate based out of PTK, Pontiac MI. Word on the street is they are sorry they left EJM's management and that ADI is in over there head trying to manage the shuttles. Intel does not pay there shuttle pilots the best. 35K for F.O.s and 70K for first year Capts. I think.

You forgot to mention no per diem on day trips .. pack your own lunch and 15-16 hour days. Heck, if the geeks in the office can do it, why not the pilots? After all 9 of those hours are spent sitting around "relaxing" at the FBO

I used to be based out of HIO doing the Air Ambulance gig until January. Intel uses EJM (executive jet mgmt) for the shuttle service in the Jungle Jets, they do not own them. The Hawker/G4/and global are based at Global Aviation on the north side of the field. They charter those jets, but not to Intel for shuttles.

I know the chief pilot on the Hawker, so I could call him and get some the Global Aviation CP name/number as well as other info if anyone wants it. Just PM me and I can make a call today.

Best of luck all.

Not anymore ... EJM is out of the picture. Intel dropped them as the primary contractor and is now using ADI.

I did not fly for them, but know someone who did. (In the EMB135.)

His words, not mine: In his opinion, the airplanes were flown in a manner contrary to the POH, and that at least one captain was disciplined/fired for not going along w/these apparent SOP's.

I don't know if these shenanigans are still going on.

I could probably get some heat for posting this stuff, but it needs to be out there. They have had high turnover; even for a pretty cush job in this economy. Must be a reason for that.

I wanted to work there too, but this story cooled my heels.

Stay away. Far away.

That is interesting. I always wondered what the real story was with those guys-- I heard lots of complaints, but nothing concrete before this.
