INSTRUCTOR PILOT COMPENSATION

Our total compensation and employment program for Instructor Pilots is the best in the industry.
Embry-Riddle offers a minimum of 27 paid/accrued leave days annually, a highly competitive wage base and two comprehensive health insurance programs.
All full-time instructors (and spouses or domestic partners) are immediately eligible for a 100 percent tuition waiver for both undergraduate and graduate courses, and a 100 percent tuition waiver for undergraduate courses for dependent children, up to age 26. Embry-Riddle will contribute the amount equal to 5 percent of the instructor's earnings into one of two retirement programs. We will also match additional employee contributions up to 3 percent. The funds are fully vested after only one year of service. Full pay for departmental meetings and directed non-flight activities and 100 percent uniform allowance are included in the compensation package. Our flight instructors are very attractive to the airlines and many are hired each month -- see a chart.

I wasnt an instructor, but the benefits are pretty good. Medical max out of pocket is 1500/year which is pricey at that salary if you have any procedure over about 15k. Other than that, the 403b is great, the tuition benefit is great, and for the most part the staff is great. The school kinda sucks due to the elitist attitude many people have...but if you ignore them and just deal with the smart people you'll have fun.

I have instructed their, and still fly up their with some students now and again. Its a great gig! Uniforms provided, dry cleaning, great benefits, and free tuition. I think they still provide all that! Oh, and factory new airplanes, kept in pristine condition and all the students you can handle. It's a great school.

Send me a PM if you want more info...

I'm an instructor at riddle and its a pretty good gig if you're full time.

During the school year (fall and spring) you can almost have all the students you want. Summer time it drops big time, but I'm pretty sure full timers are given priority.

It does take a while to upgrade in different a/c, so you probably don't want to get your hopes up for starting off in the twinstar your first day on the job.

Good maintenance program, good airplanes.

If you've ever taught 141 and liked it, its a good place for you to be. If you like the relaxed atmosphere of 61 and enjoy flying in shorts or flip flops you may wanna reconsider.

erau instructor

hey i'm an instructor at erau now and the pay has raised and there have been many changes.. there is an IP 1 status where you can work full time and be a part time student and they will pay for your classes (i did it) but with restrictions, only 2 classes per semester. will take you longer to graduate..also there is always work, we have a union and if you are a full timer then you are guarenteed work. we did have a voluntary leave for this summer to part timers but no furlough happened. there really is no better place to instruct.

I have an interview for an instructor position there but I've heard that if you pass the interview you are placed into a hiring pool and then have to wait to be called for a standardization class that lasts 2-4 weeks. The concerning part is that the standardization class is unpaid. Can any riddle instructors confirm this?

riddle standards

As of right now you will be given a date for standards. It will come fast as the summer is ending quickly and in the Fall we are always hurting for Instructors.. Standardization is not always 2-4 weeks. The class is one week with flying. True you do not get paid for standards however you do not pay for the flights, which is saving you a lot of money so you really cant complain. They will also supply the manuals and checklists.

no more twinstar

News release yesterday from the head of flight department stated that we will no longer teach in the Diamond 42 Twinstar for new multi engine students and or MEI's. With Theilart having financial troubles we can not afford to not know what could happen mid year. We will be sticking with the Piper Seminole.
