PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- St. John County officials said two people aboard a small helicopter died when it crash and burned on Ponte Vedra Beach just north of Solano Road.Just before 10:30 a.m., St. Johns County Fire-Rescue personnel were called to put out a fire aboard a civilian helicopter near the waterline.Channel 4 learned that the helicopter is with Silver State Helicopters flying out of Craig Airport in Arlington. The identities of those on board were not immediately available.

Helicopter Crashes on Ponte Vedra Beach
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL -- A helicopter crashed and caught fire on Ponte Vedra Beach.
The helicopter went down along the water line just North of Solano Road in the 300 block of Ponte Vedra Boulevard.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and the Fire Department have responded.
Sources tell First Coast News' Jessica Clark, who is at the scene gathering more information, that the passengers on board have been killed.
No word on why the helicopter crashed, or where it's from at this moment.
A witness from the scene said they ran from the falling chopper, "It sounded like a possibly gas problem, horrendous sound before it hit. It hit the ground nose first, bounced, then hit the ground again and burst into flames."
