Started flying an 800A. 1985 model. Construction plate on aircraft says it's a HS125-800A, registration shows it as a BA125-800A. Do I use HS or BA for the logbook ? Does it have anything to do with the s/n or year ? Thanks

Is it equipped with new or old-style EFIS/FMS? I've seen some Hawker 800As that are a bit archaic given the age... Overall it is a nice ride.

Nice bird...aviation history.

Started life as a de Havilland with a DH 125 designation.(and the fancy name of the Jet Dragon)

de Haviland was incorproated into Hawker Siddley company and the aircraft became the HS125, around 1963 Yeh a while ago now.

In time, 1978, Hawker Siddley was incorporated into British Aerospace Aircraft Group ...but the 125 series retained the HS designation....BAAG privatised into BAe around 1982 and at this stage the BA designation started to appear.

Later, 1993 BAe sold the design to Raytheon

So a little strange to see an 1985 aircraft with a HS designation, but this must refer to original certification, and not the aircraft delivered, which would be a BAe aircraft.

Speaking of Hawker type designations......

I wonder if they are going to change the designation for the new addition to the Hawker family, the 400XP?

You know, originally it was the:

Diamond Jet: MU300

then

Beechjet: BE400

now

Hawker 400XP: surely not HS125-400XP??

......just kidding, really!!

Interesting point. It couldn't be a HS (Hawker Siddley...... a long departed British manufacturing company)....and it isn't a 125 type.

Hawker is just the retained marketing name........though calling a 400XP a Hawker is like calling a cat a dog! They'll have to be a bit more inventive.......

At least the Beech label corresponded to some real engineering associated with the USAF PATS program....JayHawk configuration...from which the 400 is derived....as much as the DiamondJet.

Perhaps the BUSH 400 XP ( Beech-MitsUbishi Series Hawker.......) topical.
