I was just looking into that for our Hawker. They were quoting $10K per unit. Not a bad deal considering the only other way to do it is a new FMS.

As of a few months ago the price was up to 13k, but there is a catch. In our CJ (early SN) the xls is not eligible for the upgrade. It all depends on the PN of your unit so you might check that before you get your hopes up. We went rounds with Duncan, Sierra, Carpenter, and Cessna trying to find a solution besides the $400,000 G1000 and no one could help us out. We finally had a shop put together a package with a Garmin 430 that retains the xls. We have approval for PRNAV LNAV/VNAV and LPV and it works great. Garmin just introduced a new unit called the GTN 650 which will replace the 430 and have (finally) airway capability. Send me a message if you would like more info.

How does it behave compared to the pre-upgrade?

I wish they'd reprogram the whole darned box to be a little more user-friendly. I guess if you grow up with it then it is okay, but to me it is annoying at best sometimes...
