Salve,

A quick question for glex pilots: Why is it prohibited to use the autothrottle with any other flap setting that F30° on landing ?

Thanks in advance !

I think it has to do with the fact that the auto throttles are set to retard to idle at 50 feet and with a circus landing you need to get it back to idle sooner.

The simple answer is the Autothrottles are integrated with many other systems. It is impossible to cover every contingency in the abnormal checklist so it is easier to prohibit their use unless everything is funtioning properly.

an example: if the Flaps are not 16 deg or greater then the autothrottles will not retard in the flare. If this occurs, at touchdown the A/T will disengage. Thrust lever position and RPM will be remain unchanged. You can see this would have an adverse effect on landing distance.

Hope this helps

Yeah, but on a Legacy... TC

Thanks for your answers...i keep reading the manuals. Very interesting plane indeed ! How would one describe global's flight characteristics ? I'm getting onto it in March 2005 (at least that's what the company has planned for - but one never knows today).

Cheers, sub

Well...I bet the autothrottles will fail more often on a Global than they will on a Legacy... :D

i can't remember any A/T issues on the Global.........don't know much about the Legacy

Hint: The Legacy doesn't have autothrottles. It was apparently a well disguised attempt at humor based on another thread.

point taken...i've spent many hours reading that "other thread" about the Whistling S#*tcan of Death!!
