Any ideas on the best way to get there? I'm just starting to plan a trip there and anyone who has any advice, it would be much appreciated.

Air Tahiti Nui from JFK or LAX to PPT. Used to be really cheap fares. Hawaiian also flies from HNL to PPT.

I'll second that.

My wife and I flew Air Tahait Nui LAX-PPT about 10 months ago. Outstanding service, especially since they upgraded us to Business Class as a professional courtesy (I made a point of introducing myself to the captain before the flight)!

Last summer Air Tahiti Nui started JFK-PPT. That's much easier than LAX, if you live on the east coast. It also gives you other options for getting home.

I'm not sure who you fly for, but my company has a fantastic pass agreement with Air Tahiti Nui. It was very cheap for us to get there. Perhaps your company has a similar deal.

Alternatively, Hawaiian flies HNL to PPT. The only other option I can think of is Air France. Perhaps they make a stop at LAX enroute from CDG to PPT?

AOM used to fly ORY or CDG to PPT, with a stop at LAX. But, if I'm not mistaken, AOM isn't around anymore. I think they merged with another carrier, which then went out of business. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As your planning progresses, I'd be happy to offer more advice.

If you don't want to do the stand-by, Air Tahiti Nui has specials sometimes. $550 RT from LAX-PPT. Check out their website. Very nice flight.

Are you flying for a company that has ZED agreements? I remember seeing them listed in the list of ZED airlines. If so this may be a cheap available option for you. Let us all know how you make out. If I survive training and get a decent schedule in March, I'd love to check the place out too!
