Anyone know how to get from LAX down to the Oceanside/Carlsbad area?
I'm wondering if it is easy to get to a train, or perhaps there's a shuttle van.

Thanks.

Cloud 9 Shuttle out of SAN comes to mind... I know they have a LAX shuttle, but I think its a bit pricey.

I have ridden the Coaster(fairly painless) from SAN to Oceanside but that's as far as it goes. The AMTRAK Pacific Surfliner goes from SAN to Union Station with stops at Soalna Beach and Oceanside. It takes almost 2 hours. At Union Station you would have to txfr to a bus, subway, van or taxi to get to LAX. Here are some links:

Getting to and from LAX from various Amtrak locations in Southern California. Although it may not appear so at first in auto-oriented California, be assured, one can make the trip without a car.

Thanks for the tips. Normally I would just JS into CRQ, but I am now furloughed and have to use a paper pass. If I can get to SAN I'll just take the coaster, but the loads look better going in and out of LAX.

If you need to do the Mesa option out of PHX let me know and I'd be happy to shoot you over a buddy pass :)

Drive?

Trip went smooth, thanks for the advice.

I took a Super Shuttle from LAX to Union Station ($15) and then hopped on the Surfliner for $18.
