CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Winter weather was to blame for delaying the first Skybus flight out of the Charlotte County Airport. The discount airline had to wait two hours to take off from Columbus, Ohio so crews could de-ice it!

Once it touched down in Charlotte, people including a crew from WINK News boarded for the first Skybus flight out of Southwest Florida.

Skybus does things a little different:
No seat assignments for passengers.
You have to pay for your food and drinks.
And the CEO Ken Giles wears Mardi Gras beads! But he says there is only one thing that sets his airline apart. “We love our people, employees and customers,” Said Giles.

Skybus plans to add service from Charlotte County to the Boston area and Greensboro, North Carolina in a few months.

Charlotte county... I used to fly into that little piss ant airport a five years ago for a $100 hamburger.. it didn't even have a tower... The had the FEMA trailers on the airport for those displaced from the hurricanes...

Figures Skybust would pick that as their south florida destination

Two hours to de ice at CMH? That's got to be some kind of record!

Skybus does things a little different:

Yeah, like pay their airbus pilots less than 50 seat RJ pay.

Yeah, I bet they're selling it as "Miami" and "Orlando" too.

2 more years and they'll be liquidated.

This is a serious threat to our profession. People will forsake everything but safety for a cheap ticket.
