What is the the expected time from starting training to being on IOE for airilnes like Eagle, Expressjet, Skywest. Im an fo that may be doing a lateral move but don't want to go through the waiting game agian. I'm assuming better regionals aren't losing instructors left and right.

I'm in training at Eagle right now and they're telling us 7 weeks. That's with Christmas and New Years thrown in there.

Eagle is 7 weeks, plus 2 more for IOE.

Mesa is close to 5 months.

The phrase "more CRJ's" makes my skin crawl....According to the VP that is the main thing that made "letter 3" fall through. He came in to talk with us and didn't really explain the rational for pissing off APA. He seems to be one tracked mind with "expanding the company" with more CRJ's. Forget about the career progression of his pilots.

Is the training length at Eagle the same for all types? As far as LAX is it just the saab or can a newhire get the emb. Also how does Eagle manage to give a base option for newhire, is there a catch to that.

1.) Training time is roughly the same for all types to the best of my knowledge.

2.) The Saab is the junior aircraft at LAX. The EMB is very very senior there.

3.) Picking your own base is on the up and up. You tell them your base choice and it's a done deal. The only catch would be if they (obviously) closed the base or moved your aircraft type out (ie. pulling the saabs out of LAX). As an F/O there is currently there is a one year seat lock; but after that you can move up to the jet. You CANNOT move prop to prop, jet to jet, or jet to prop. The only movement you can make after the seatlock is up is from a prop (saab and atr) to jet (erj and crj). The only time you can make any of the above moves is during captain upgrade. When going for a captain slot you'll be able to laterally or down to any aircraft type.

Hope that helps. Eagle is a great place overall. Upgrade time is not exaclty wonderful but it's stable and pay is (by regional standards) very good. Training pay is 64 hours a month at $24/hr (first year F/O pay) AS WELL as $1.65/hr per diem 24 hours per day. I'm probably getting paid more in training than I will on the line. *sigh* I guess I'll enjoy it while it lasts. After training I'll have to downgrade to Ramen noodles. Right now I'm living large on canned Chef Boyardee!

7 weeks, but it felt like 4 months. How's training going Bill?

Sup bud? Training is going great....it's just not going by fast enough. This week has gone by pretty quickly; but, still not quick enough.

I'm going to be brave and come back home this weekend. I don't think I'll have a problem getting back on Sunday as long as I give myself the full day. It'll probably be frustrating; but, I'm sure I'll make it. I need to get out!!! This hotel room is driving me crazy. Nights like last Friday night are fun; but, it still doesn't beat being at home. I'll probably be home the next two weekends. Then the following weekend I've got my "lady friend" coming out for the weekend. So, I should be entertained for the next few weekends. I still don't think they know what's going to happen for Christmas and New Years. I hope the positive space us home; but, I've heard that the sims run 7 days a week 365 a year. So, with that being the fact I'm not sure that they'll send us home. Oh well.

Good luck on IOE. Let me know how everything is going. I'll see ya when I get back.

747, your training pay will be more on the line then in training after the first month. Not by much but about 200 bucks.

Your post is a little confusing. Once I'm on the line I WILL be making more than I am on my training pay? Or my current training pay is higher than it will be on the line?

Oh and ah *cough..cough*, that's 757. Just joking.
I'm looking forward to seeing how great the United guys have it with their cafeteria haha.

XJT: slightly under 2 months, 2 months plus 1 week for some to be done with everything including IOE.
