I realize this is a strange one, but...

An acquaintance of mine needs a Captain-Qualified ERJ or Legacy pilot for a short term contract. The airplane (a brand new Legacy with all the bells and whistles) is being flown to a buyer in Russia. It is an Aruba-Registered airplane (they will validate your FAA ATP License).

Most of the flying will be in Europe.

Contract will pay for an apartment, $5000/month, approx. $50/day per diem (I may be low-balling that one), VISA support, and transportation to and from the USA at the beginning and end of the contract.

Part of the job is helping to train the two permanent pilots now going through type rating class in Europe.

I am only able to do about 14-21 days of the contract so you would probably be there for 4-6 weeks. I think this is one heck of a cool opportunity for someone wanting to go international for a short while to round out their resume' a bit.

I'm doing it as a favor to someone in need, but I admit the selfish motive: to broaden my knowledge as well.

PM me for more details if you are interested. Please no smart alec comments. I am merely the messenger.

Well....it is a regional airliner...

Plus they want 50$ perdiem per day in Europe. Operated in Russia lately? 50$ does not go too far. How bout London? that 50$ covers breakfast...hate to see the dumps this place will put you also...

Definitly belongs on the regional board. Fifty bucks perdiem and 5K/month may be great money/opportunity there...

It's a "Real Corporate Jet" (tm).

I don't know the details well. As I said in my note, $50/day is a low-ball figure I am sure. Most of the flying is to be in Europe, not Russia any way (and I don't eat breakfast). You must eat caviar or something all the time.

I have had a few responses from people interested so it obviously did what it was intended to do.

Just to go over there to see the place is probably worth it!

I'm not interested or qualified for the position, but I am curious if the applicant must be able to speak russian or another foreign language to be contracted?

Don't do it!

$5000/mo is a crime!! I make $600 + $40.80 per diem per day on a Legacy right now and that's low, too! Contract rate on this a/c should be $800-1000/day. A full month should pay at least $20k.

Seriously, if you're talking USD, in Europe per diem should be at least $100/day, and preferably in the $130-$150/day range. Given the strength of the Euro against the dollar combined with normally high prices for food, beer, and things like having your laundry done, $50 in Europe will take you about as far as $20-$25 will here.

I am thinking the per diem was quoted in Euros.

I appreciate the info everyone (Catyaak). I personally don't care but I understand others might. I'm doing it as a favor so I would do it for free to help a friend. Maybe he'll pay you more. I'm not sure...I just rattled off what I recalled off the top of my head.

Russian fluency not required.

Where are you doing contract work, Kuwait? Just curious.

Give the guy a break. For a quick commuter job, 5K a month is good. Fly a coummuter airplane, make commuter money. You wouldn't expect sombody flying a Metro or J31 for a month to make more than $5000 would you? I bet commuter pilots would drool over $50 a day Europe or not. The Legacy is a commuter airplane so you should make coummuter money. I do agree though, the post should be posted on the Regional board.

5K for a months worth of contract work is $HIT - its not "good"...

This is the type of garbage that pops up when you try and dress up a pig (Legacy) to look like a bizjet. I guess 5K looks like a fortune for a months work when you are used to working for $1500/month. PATHETIC.

GV/Global guys are getting 1200-1500/day for Intl work. A legacy guy should get at least say...half that!!

now, go pimp this dog over at the regional forum....

Last week in London a meduim coffee and muffin at Starbucks was about 10lb.....thats about $19....jeeesh, there goes half my days per diem...

yeah, you'll be eating caviar....

Oh come on Gulfstream 200. I'm a fan of your posts and was just trying to get a rise.....didn't expect it from you.

Don't yell at me. I am just the messenger... Sheesh.

$5K tax-free doesn't seem bad to me for what I consider a paid vacation to Europe... It's a heck of a lot more than I make on the EMB-140.

Negotiate with the man. I'm telling you what he offered me and I said, "Sure no problem." I'm sure if you give him the going rate he'll bump it up.

"paid vacation in Europe"...

lovely. Now flying for a living should be considered "paid vacation"

Your friend is looking for an International Qualified Training Captain on your (so called) business jet for a whopping.....$166 a day salary.

yup, that gets a RISE outta me every single time..

Passing on job opportunitys to the general public is a great idea and this frustration is not aimed at you...just sick of people lowering the bar - once again...

call it an opportunity? sure....call it a "good opportunity"....F THAT.

Lowering the bar? I already have a job. I'm doing it as a favor. Nobody said you have to do it for $5K. He said, "Can you do it for $5,000 a month?" I said, "Sure."

Well, turns out my recurrent gets in the way of it so I can only help for two weeks. I am quite certain he will pay you more if you ask for it. I'm just telling people what I know in case there is an interest.

I voted no to my TA...fully prepared to shut the whole thing down to get what we have earned through hard work and sacrifice. I certainly didn't lower any bar.

Ivory Tower Hypoxia

G200

Salary issues notwithstanding, by your logic, then this board should be populated by CRJ drivers from the regionals discussing CRJ issues, after all the CRJ evolved from the Challenger, did it not?

Ivory Tower's come to mind..................

Leviathan

Legacy bashers are just ill-informed people with penile envy issues. Anyone who has flown it knows it's a great airplane.

1. It is not tax free unless it meets the "year test" by the IRS.

2. It was mentioned in the first post that part of the job is training the "real" crew.....hmmmmmm, that in itself bring enough challenges that makes $5000 a month way too low.

3. Fact - some poor sap will take the job, learn a lot (like never to lower the bar on himself again, how to teach English as a second language while tooling along in primitive airspace at 400kts) and go back to a regional making $1500 a month or maybe get kidnapped and featured on a web video. You get what you pay for.

Having made some bad mistakes early on (and probably continuing to make mistakes now) I have learned to avoid the really obvious ones, this would be an obvious one.

Best of luck or СУДЬБА!
