Have an interview in BFL, and it was much easier on the pocket book to fly into LAX. Anyone from the area that could estimate the drive time from LAX to BFL mid-morning (leaving around 9am)?

Thanks

Anywhere from 2 to 3 hours... depending on what traffic you hit between LAX and the north part of the valley. I think it's only 110 miles or so..

Cool, thanks. Never been to the area, and have heard stories of horrendous LA traffic.

I've got about 3 1/2 hours to go 110 miles; I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Once you get to the "Grapevine", which is where the 5 and 99 split, and the faultine is, the traffic virtually evaporates. The earlier you can get a start the better you are. Worse day is Friday, anytime after 1 PM

Yep, and I-5 past Grapevine might as well be California's unofficial Autobahn. You'll make good time.

When you have picked up your car from the rental agency, (allow 30-60 mins to catch the shuttle and get the car) get on the 405 north and it will join the northbound I-5 after about 30 miles as you pass Sylmar. Stay on the 5 another 50-60 or so miles until the 99 cutoff to Bakersfield. Then you can't miss it! 120 miles from LAX to downtown Bakersfield.

9:00 AM on a weekday? About 2 hours and 20 minutes. Traffic will be tight the first 7 miles or so, but will begin to open up north of Wilshire blvd. Speed limit + by the Sepulveda pass and after that.

Have a nice drive, and good luck with your interview.

Best,
