Tactic...Tactic

That's just a low offer and I don't think anybody is expecting you to take it. (Except your MEC>>>??$$??)

The main problem at NJ is that they don't have training cost but training income.

It's more advantageous to train a new CFI than to pay a senior captain for the same work with a better attitude. That explains the 1st year %age raise.

In other words, threatening the Co to quit is a non sense and self destructive...Don't do it.

Gloves are off

Mistreating the guys that are in direct contact with the customer is a terrible mistake from mgt....use it.

But don't think that the owners sympathize with your problems. If you're going to save $10 on a bus ride, you don't care how much the driver makes.

Facts:

1. NJA considers the pilot highly expendable and short term pilots are preferable.

2. NJA can not stop flying for an extended period of time

3. The MEC has now proved to be incapable or unwilling. The offer should have never been considered.

4. A pilot should be able to feed a family comfortably.

Solution

1. Unions are here to prevent that. Request higher minimums for new hire. 1000 PIC turbine for example. So that you won't be replaced so easily.

2. Stay the course and push them in a corner. Let them feel the heat

3. Fire the MEC and hire professionals. People that have proven themselves.

4. 401K + IRAs + $1500 Mortgage + Cars + ...= $100K minimum for a capt

note that a $500 raise turns out to be about $100/paycheck after taxes and 401K.

Easy to say but look at the long term results of a good contract. What difference 50K a year make.

Good luck
