The hottest rumor (GG alluded to it in the corporate review) is that DAL may be shedding some hubs when all of this mess is sorted out. Anyone care to guess where thay may leave ASA out in Dallas? Would we still exist here in Texas? If not, where might we go?

I've heard the DFW rumor, but not SLC. Anyhoo, I'm guessing they mean just mainline and leave DCI in place, but larger. What sense would it make to yank us out of those places?

I can definitely see DFW getting the axe. Airtran will likely then take over since they can actually make money.

SLC is a different animal. If DL cuts SLC that would largely make DL an East Coast only airline (like USAirways is now after cutting PSA routes many years ago).

Cutting SLC to me would be the final sign that DL has given up and is planning to slowly die. DL CANNOT market themselves as a full network carrier, but have no West Coast network.

I doubt SLC will go anywhere, since it is doing better and Grinstein used to run Western Airlines---based there. He thinks there could be more done in SLC, and the SLC Chief Pilot also said they were in line for some future 100 seaters. I don't know.

Look out, here comes Johny O!

It wouldn't surprise me if Johny O. shows up in SLC with some big RJs.

More regional for domestic feed. DL focuses on long haul, transcons, international.

Jeff,

That is doubtful. Delta lost a lot of profitable Montana flying to the RJs because they had to stick the 737-300s to other routes for the NW Codeshare. The SLC Chief Pilot supposedly stated recently that new 100 seaters would be "perfect" for SLC---and that would be with DL crews. I doubt Mesa would try to join the party in SLC----Delta and Skywest seem to have a lock on most of the activity based in SLC.

Bye Bye--General Lee

And Ted Striker,

The corporate review won't be done until the end of AUG. I think you were talking about an interview with Grinstein---the review is still ongoing. He(Gerry) doesn't know yet which bases, if any, will be closed. But, with the recent exodus of flights from DFW---one can surmise that it may be on the chopping block eventually.

Bye Bye--General Lee
