ALPA Pilot Leaders Issue Joint Statement on Negotiations
WASHINGTON—The chairmen of the Delta and Northwest pilot groups, both represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), have jointly discussed with ALPA’s President, Capt. John Prater, the importance of commencing negotiations with Delta management in the very near future.
The negotiations would seek a single collective bargaining agreement that will include immediate parity in rates of pay effective on the closing date of the proposed corporate transaction. This does not constitute endorsement of the transaction by the Master Executive Council (MEC) of the Northwest pilot group.
The two MEC chairmen and ALPA are attempting to schedule preparation meetings between the two negotiating committees and actual negotiations with management. A separate announcement of those dates will be released when available.
The MEC chairmen also agree that seniority integration should be accomplished through expedited negotiation after the negotiation of the single collective bargaining agreement and, if necessary, using expedited arbitration to be completed before closing of a corporate transaction.
Founded in 1931, ALPA is the world’s largest pilot union representing more than 56,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the U.S. and Canada.

LOL, that said absoultely nothing. Just press release doublespeak.

From the sounds of it, they are preparing to have meetings to decide the place of the meetings where the seating arrangement and contents of the nosh tray at the preparatory meeting for the negotiation preparatory meetings are discussed.

Nu

This is nothing more than a bunch of babble. The only significant thing in this release is the NWA MEC actually intends to include the DAL MEC.

ALPA Pilot Leaders Smoke Joint during Negotiations

Tired of bickering over seniority integration issues, leaders of NWA's and DAL's pilots unions decided to roll a few fatties and blaze up this afternoon.

A unanimous resolution was passed to have some Pink Floyd piped in over the Muzak system.

Other agreements reached included crew meals that contained chips, twinkies, and "anything off the Taco Bell menu"......

"Council 420" will meet again next week under the supervision of mediator Jeff Spicoli.

Hey, Frank! You surf? :pimp:

Hey Schwanker,

I see your pissed. I can say I was pretty firmly against the merger until I sat in on a DL MEC roadshow today. The financials presented by the ALPA finace guy were pretty compelling. There's going to be a lot of teeth gnashing, numbers gained and lost, and pissed off people, but when it's all said and done I think all of our careers will be a lot more stable and profitable because of it.
