Croatia

Planning a trip to Croatia this fall. Will have about 7 days to hang out. Will take the overnight ferry from Anacona It. to Split. Want to see Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik. Would prefer to establish a base camp and do day trips. Any suggestions? Ferry of course but what else should I know. Thks, A4

For a base, why not Zagreb? It's the capital with lots of stuff to do, Slovenia is just an hour drive north, Austria 45 minutes after that. The rest of the Croatia is within a day's drive from Zagreb. I'd recommend you check out the island Rab, one of the more popular ones in the Adriatic. We took a ferry across from Rijeka back in 1995. That was one of the prettiest places I've ever seen in the world and it was a beautiful 5 hour drive from downtown Zagreb.

You didn't mention if you've been to Croatia before, but the people speak better English than we do and their hospitality is fantastic.
