Can anyone explain to me what a "capacity purchase agreement" is?

Where will the planes come from?

I don't think it was a fluke that strong rumors of a Comair purchase were coming out this week, right before this went public...

Oops, don't tell everyone while the unions are still negotiating.

All that means is that they wont lease them from continental, which is good since they don't have any to lease. XJT on the other hand leases all of thier planes from CAL. XJT could sublease planes to chitaqua which would make them a 3rd party.

So long as they are not CRJ's. Those airplanes suck, but they may come directly from Brazil, you never know.

Yeah those tiny little converted prop cabin, pencil jets are way more luxurious anyday!!

Those DoJets were very comfortable! Except for that jumpseat, which would catapult you into the first row with little or no warning.

However, I've never had more uncomfortable rides than I have on the ERJ. If you're lucky enough to get a window seat, you've only got half the floor space because of the rediculously small fuselage. I don't like ducking through the cabin, either.

But you know you can at least see out the windows on the ERJ, unlike the CRJ. The CRJ all 4 series the 100/200/700/900 all are very uncomfortable.

The -100 & -200 is the only one with the low windows. The 700 & 900 are comfortable, fast, and have the windows in the right place. The E170/190 are the same as the 700 & 900 but slower.

Mesa has 36 ERJ's

And they would prefer an all CRJ fleet

COMAIR?

The only thing the E-jets have in common withe the CRJ's is the number of seats. Other than that, the E-jets are a much more comfortable ride for the pax and in my opinion a much better airplanes.

What does this agreement with CHQ mean for Express Jet pilots. Basically, six months until the first plane leaves the property right? Even if CHQ leased the planes from Xjet, they'd still use their own pilots.

Yeah, thats basically what I was going to write and then stopped. For some reason I see this thread deteriorating into a penus size contest of which plane is the best. Thanks for picking up the ball.

It's not about passenger comfort, ERJs are more efficient and less expensive to operate than CRJs, nothing personal just a fact. CHQ will use their ERJs from another airline and fly them for CAL. CAL will not make as much on the CHQ flying as the XJT flying, XJT is less expensive...lower CASM. The earth will continue to spin, and no XJT pilots will be on the street. GO JIM!

I'd like to see your "facts."

Same as the 170/190? I dont think so! By the way what is the speed on the Crj? the 170/190 can cruise at .82 but an everyday figure would be .78 to .80
