Does anyone have any info on classes to be held this summer? There is one June 21st, but will they keep them going in July and August? Obviously any info would be rumor and subject to change, but I'm eager to hear it anyways.

Thanks!

You are correct. One class of approx. 10 going on the 21st of June and one tentatively scheduled for July. No other word on future class dates.

Until then, have you guys considered going somewhere to enhance your qualifications? Flying single pilot night-freight for companies such as Ram Air Express, Flight Express, etc. would dramatically improve your IFR abilities and help you to learn decision making skills.

I believe that 1500TT are the minimums for FAR135 PIC flying IFR. You would probably be somewhat competitive at this point.

Good luck!

That sounds great, but who in the world would take me when I may have a class date in two months?

A prospective employer is only going to know what you tell them. I don't think you should put all your eggs in this one basket in the meantime. Some 135 experience would make you much more competitive in the future should the call for a class date not come (or come months from now). That's just my humble opinion...best of luck either way.

The word around the fishtank is one class in July now.. There was going to be two, but the mid month class was axed..

The most recent vacancy bid shows 36 CRJ FO positions, so it seems reasonable to expect that many newhires in the next couple of months. Beyond that, who knows.

Hey Furloughedagain,

If I were you, I'd take the MidAtlantic EMB-170 Captain position you were offered and run... Delta might be reassessing its use of the RJ and who knows what sorts of implications that my have for you and the other Comair FOs out there. Just a friendly suggestion - plus, you would be golden for JetBlue!

Now back to the current thread.

Hopefully there would be no ramifications for Comair/ASA...if any Connection flying were to be reduced, they should start with the Taco, Skywest, and Skyway, err I mean ACA. Of course, I guess that would do nothing to help the good ol' portfolio concept.

Furloughed Again, good luck with your decision. I don't really envy the position you find yourself in, but can see upside either way you choose.

Kingair,

Thanks for the kind words. I made my decision (and posted it on the other thread). This thread though, is about helping these academy guys to make a good decision and foster their own career growth.

They have an opportunity now to explore a whole new avenue of aviation and build some good flying and decision-making skills at the same time. I think they should go for it!
