[font=verdana, arial, helvetica]Hi,

I just have a few questions. I'm currently flying for a 121 turboprop carrier. I'm looking to move on. I've got at least 2 years in the right seat here before I can even consider upgrade.

My questions are:
Is hiring still going strong?
Will it continue for a while to come?
What is upgrade looking like?
How set in stone are the mins?

Thanks for your help.

Is hiring still going strong?
For the month of July, yes. August is almost as good as July.

Will it continue for a while to come?
Depends HUGELY on what happens between CHQ and United, US Airways, and the status of Republic. They have taken on alot of pilots in the last two months.

What is upgrade looking like?
Current upgrade class has pilots at 18-19 months. Pilots hired now will probably upgrade in 2.5-3.5 years if DL and UA growth continues. Also highly variable based upon the previous answer. I think upgrade minimums are 2500TT, so you won't find a break there if that's what you are looking for.

How set in stone are the mins?
They have been taking pilots lower than the published 1500/300, but 1000/100 is absolutely, positively rock-solid (and many of the people hired between these numbers are Delta Connection or Purdue graduates).

Current line pilots might have more accurate info than me. Throw your resumes out and best of luck...

The reason I ask about the mins are because I have less than 1000 TT, but have quite a bit of 121, ME and Turbine time. I was wondering if there would be a break on the TT, considering the other things.

Thanks for your information, though. CHQ seems like a great place to be right now.

Throw your stuff in, we love guys with prev. 121 experience. No idea if they're going below 1000 TT, though. Keep in mind CHQ is a great place right now, but as always things could change. A lot of us are getting a little nervous with our fortunes being so closely tied to US and UA. Also, we seem to be about halfway through the hiring boom to staff the current known deliveries. This puts us around 1000 pilots with 2-300 more to come.... the bigger any company gets the more the upgrade time stretches. FWIW if you were the bottom guy on the list right now you'd need another 7-800 below you to hold Captain.

I've already sent my stuff in (e-mail and online app). Sitting a couple of years in the right seat at CHQ doesn't bother me that much. Upgrade time isn't that big of a problem, just a curiosity. I just don't want to miss out on the hiring boom. I'd love to get in soon, rather than miss a good thing.

"Is hiring still going strong?"
Seems to be.

"Will it continue for a while to come?"
Perhaps, perhaps not. It depends on Republic, United, USAirways.

"What is upgrade looking like?"
It looks like a F/O who becomes Captain, but thats not important--I think the number will be 18 months to 2 years.

"How set in stone are the mins?"
They appear to be set in limestone, and are easily changable. I know of people with 1000-1300TT and 100 Multi, no turbine, 135, etc, just 172 time.

CHQ freaking ROCKS!

I think the line should have been...."Give me ham on white, hold the Mayo" Since there was a white phone...ham on 5...what does that mean anyway.

Is Filthy-Philly still a junior base? Think they'd want to talk to me 1300/500 (most multi time is VFR survey)?

Break in total time?? What the fukc? You "bought" your current job as a whore so why should they give you a break in total time? Let me talk to a few at CHQ so they can look and "expect" your stuff, paper shredders are always good for something.:D

That is what happens when you whored yourself out and used Daddy's money to buy yourself the right seat of a King Air at Tab Express..

Bet you looked oh so sharp in that pilot uniform though?-

Wait one d*mn minute. I'm not TabexpressF/O if that's what you think. Daddy didn't buy my job. Daddy didn't pay one cent for any of my education, no matter where I got it. I don't condone what I did in the past. In hind sight, I shouldn't have made the decisions I made. However, I did. I'm not defending PFT, nor do I support it. I did what I did and that's that.

I don't believe I'm entitled to anything. I was just wondering if they offered breaks to people with previous 121 experience. I came to this site looking for advice. I should have known better than to ask for help here. That was another instance where hind sight in 20/20.

No wonder the world thinks we're arrogant @ssholes.

For those who have provided me real answers, I thank you for your help and insight. Its a shame that we all can't be adults in this world.

You are asking pilots to be adults?

I don't believe I'm entitled to anything.

I rest my case...... Then OBTAIN the minimums and stop your whining about "lower mins".

You are a disgrace to this profession, anyone who stands up for what you have done with regards to "buying" a seat needs to get their head examined.

You can put lipstick on a pig but is still ain't going to be pretty...

You had the choice between right and wrong and unfortunately you took the "shortcut" and bought the job. If it wasn't for people (won't even use the word pilot) like yourself then these places like Gulfjoke and Tab would actually have to HIRE & PAY first officers...

I didn't do Tab's "Airline". I flew the King Air around like it was a Seneca. It was just like buying Multi-Time at an FBO. I did it in something powered by PT-6s. Tab gave me a connection to get an INTERVIEW with an airline. I INTERVIEWED just like everyone else. I got HIRED just like everyone else. They hired some from my interview and didn't hire others. I had to prove myself to them to get this JOB. I didn't walk up with a check got a class date.Continue to think what you will. Anyone who doesn't instruct and fly checks for 10 years is a worthless scumbag who doesn't belong on this earth and is a discrace to the aviation community.

Pilots at CHQ have fortunes? I thought you guys were driving WelfareJets over there.....

Call one of the other ex Colganites that have flown the coop and ask them to walk your resume in.. I'm sure someone will be glad to help you out.

As far as going through a real interview, sim ride, or whatever hoops Colgan made you jump through, the fact is the only thing you had to pass was a credit check.

Did people with check books in hand get turned away.. Sure they did. Chuck checked out their balances and there wasn't enough money to cover the cost.

If you think you passed a rock hard selection process, you are living in a dream world. Anyone who has flown a Sim knows they are much harder than the airplane. That being the case, I should have been flying with FOs that could fly the airplane, not FOs that couldn't hold altitude within +/- 100 feet.

Take your job at Colgan for what it really is.. You, and many like you, helped supplement the Colgan buffet. Learn as much as you can and become the best pilot you can be. Move on as quickly as possible and most importantly, don't let DN, or DR get you violated for dead.

So he is a TAB Express girl...

TAB Express gave me the edge to interview and the edge to get hired...daddy gave me the money edge so I can be in the DOUCHE BAG PARADE.

I guess this guy has mastered the Saab and is ready to move on to the ERJ now, a few months to master the B90, a few more months to master the Saab...how long until you master the 145, and then where will you go?
