The purpose of this position is to command the operation of company aircraft and supervise all other crewmembers during domestic trip assignments. A Captain is required to operate the aircraft in a manner that ensures safe, efficient, and convenient travel for all passengers. During flight assignments, without a Sr. Captain aboard, a more junior Captain, Co-Captain, Copilot or Flight Attendant functionally reports to the Captain.

This position reports to the Director of Aviation/Chief Pilot.

Minimum education required: Bachelor’s


Minimum work experience required: Airline Transport Pilot rating, 3,000 Hours


Special skills required: Licensed Airline Transport Pilot License. Experience in corporate or airline aviation.


Primary Responsibilities:
· Serves as pilot in command of company aircraft during domestic flights, which includes responsibility for the total operation of the aircraft. This includes safety, security, emergency actions, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
· Ensures that he or she maintains a thorough knowledge of domestic flight procedures with emphasis on safety.
· Ensures that he or she maintains the requirements for an FAA type rating as pilot-in-command on company aircraft by attending annual recurrent flight training, reviewing aircraft systems, and ensuring that all proficiency items required by federal and international regulation are current.
· Prepares the airplane for flight by preparing flight plans, ensuring the airplane is properly inspected and cleaned, and provisions are on board to ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers.
· Reviews and calculates the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board, and performance calculations to ensure safe operation of the aircraft.
· Monitors and coordinates the crew performance to ensure efficient operation of the aircraft.
· Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights or deviate from a planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
· Maintains current knowledge of FAA regulations and air traffic control procedures.
· Supervises and directs Copilot/Co-Captain duties during trip assignments and provides flight instruction as necessary to further their career development.
· Possesses and practices effective human relation skills to ensure a harmonious and professional relationship with other crewmembers and passengers.
· Performs additional support duties as assigned by the Director of Aviation/Chief Pilot.
· Maintains a close liaison with maintenance technicians in order to effectively communicate aircraft discrepancies.



Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred
· Airline Transport Pilot license and type rating in assigned aircraft
· Logged a minimum of 3000 flight hours
· Hold a first class medical certificate
· Meets all applicable flight currency requirements including a current flight proficiency and instrument competency check
· Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local aviation regulations
· Exceptional interpersonal skills
· Meets currency requirements for CPR and automatic defibrillator operation.
