Doug Melvin has resigned his post as Federal Security Director for the TSA at the Boise Airport after being charged with exposing himself at and Idaho Falls hotel last week.
BOISE - The Federal Security Director for the Transportation Security Administration in Boise resigned today, after charges surfaced that he exposed himself to a number of people at an Idaho Falls hotel early last week.
NewsChannel 7 has learned that Douglas Craig Melvin, 48, was cited for indecent exposure after the incident at the Fairfield Inn in Idaho Falls on February 19th, shortly after 10 p.m.
Police reports indicate Melvin entered the swimming area, removed his clothing and walked around naked – exposing himself to staff and hotel guests.
The police report indicates Melvin was masturbating in front of a window at the hotel, in view of an elevator.
Alcohol is said to be a factor in the incident. The report says his motives also included to “satisfy personal need or desire.”
Melvin resigned from the TSA today. A TSA spokesperson says he resigned for “personal reasons.” His access to all secured areas and his office has been revoked. An interim director will be named to serve the post.
