We are excited to announce the implementation of crew meals for both our SFO and LAX systems due to United’s de-peaked schedules and short turn times in and out of SFO and LAX hub locations. We understand that in both these locations it is very difficult to eat at times and our hope is that by providing meals you will be able to take a break to eat.

The meals will be available anytime and must be requested by the Flight Attendant for each crew member on the commissary order form in LAX or SFO. The meals contain a variety of travel ready snacks as listed below. If you have any questions, please contact your CFA.

Snack Components
Stacy’s Pita Chips
1 each
Wild Garden Hummus (2 oz glass jar)
1 each
Late July Organic Classic Rich Crackers (0.75 oz bag)

Fino Selections – Gouda Cheese (1 oz bar)
1 each
Newman’s Own Raisins (0.5 oz box)
1 each

You get these thing when you don't have alpa causing problems. Take a look ASA you could get crewmeals too.

You are truly a moron.

I read the announcement too, but I have a question: Is this free to all crews flying through SFO? If not, how much does it cost?

Oooooo Snack packs....... oh boy. And is there anybody else wondering if their selection of stinky foods is less than intentional?? Tuna fish, and Gouda cheese in the cockpit, no thanks it stinks in there enough as it is.

I don't fly for SKW, but we have food on my airlines flights (at "mealtime" according to Larry) and the last thing most people want in the cockpit is the tuna sandwiches. This is followed very closely be the salami slices in the snack pack that comes with the cream crackers and parmesan cheese spread....

If that's a "meal" then I must be Jerry Atkin.
Smoke and mirrors my friends....but it is better than nothing.

Whatever guys! Only a pilot will criticize the free food you give them, then snatch it out of your hand everytime because hey... it's free! We are cheap bastards!

Truly a west coast snack...nice.

OOOOOOOOh......your still flying 70 seaters for 50 seat prices! Imagine if you had 70 pay...you could BUY a real lunch!

Yes, because the nastiest crew meal I've ever heard of is much more important than a fair pay rate to fly larger airplanes. [/sarcasm]

If we are running behind on a 16 hr duty day and have not had a meal break after 10 hrs on duty because we lost our meal break due to flow, management is asking us to pound some free junk food on the run so we dont take a crew meal break (delay).

HA! EFF them and their precious schedule, and at the cost of a proper meal!

I will shut the plane down and stroll into the terminal and have a 1 hr sit down relaxing dinner with my crew, and the flight is already 3 hrs late, Ive done it many times and would relish in doing it again and again!

No thanks. I'll take having it written into my contract that the company recognizes the need for crews to stop for nutritional reasons and take my pick of the fine selections to be had throughout the airport....oh yeah, then they might also think twice about scheduling a 27 minute turn in ATL with an A/C & concourse swap....oh wait...no, they probably won't put that together, it will just erroneously be put under "crew delay" so the problems yet again will never be corrected. The really sad part is that I do believe we could have one heck of a great airline if management would "give us the tools" to get the job done. Unfortunately they seem far more interested in the status quo and making up new titles for themselves for doing the same old useless crap they do in the GO all day! I keep waiting for the folks from St. G to come in with the 2 Bob's and clean house.

ASA crew meals will be fried chicken and greens...........

Then I might actually regret that I once turned down a job there...

Actually Blucher, I think SKYW has the right idea. Crew meals and short turns are better than taking time to go eat at crappy airport restaurants. Skywest does things far better than the old ASA - give it some time and work with them and it will filter down to ASA.

So you'd prefer 2 oz. of Garden Hummus and a little bag of Organic Crackers to a real meal? You RJDC boys get crazier all the time.

I'm all for working with them, JM. In fact, when we were first bought my ultimate dream was that they'd come in and fire everyone in the GO and most of our CP's as well as replace the majority of ground "services" in ATL. Sadly, that hasn't yet happened, although they did cut about 1/2 of the upper "management" (interesting side note is that BL takes personal credit for that one...depending on who's in the room at the time-please also notice most front line employees/pax never noticed that these people were gone....and even then, it didn't change anything! Why were they there in the first place!?!?!?!) and they did manage to get rid of some of the more odious CP's, although at least one or two remain. As for ground personnel....well, just try to get a WC, or explain to me why a DC makes almost double what a first year FO makes, or just check your delay codes when you get to an out station and see what was put in the system even after specifically calling it in as something else. Like I said, it's really more sad than anything else. We've got so much potential, but.....

You haven't eaten at ATL then, there are no "real meals" to be had here. I pack my own food now.

I live in Newnan just 20 minutes from ATL and commute out of ATL every week (usually on an ASA 50-seater, btw), so I'm plenty familiar with the dining selection. There's plenty of decent meals to be had. You know, unless you like that hippy stuff like "organic crackers" and "garden hummus." You certainly won't find any of that crap down here.

I'll remember that when I'm coordinating SFO or LAX, thanks for making my job harder when all I do all day is making your day easier! F*cking @ssclown!

Tomclit, you never pass up an opportunity to let everyone know how much of a bitter, pissed on, pain in the ass you are. When I see the majority of your posts I just wish you guys would strike so JA would have plenty of reason to shut you down for good. Fortunetly, there are many poeple that don't follow your line of thought.

For the sake of your own sanity, unless it's already gone, please get a job as the night manager at a nearby Burger King. You clearly don't have the patience or aptitude for the airlines.

Nobody HAS to eat the snacks provided. If you want to take a crew delay to get something to eat, go for it! I'm as disgruntled as the next regional pilot, but you guys are making a big deal out of nothing!

Same thing goes about the FREE MONEY you guys got from the company. All some of you want to do is bitch about how it won't vest for 3 years.

I will do the same for my crew....I have done it....and will keep doing it, and not once has anyone questioned me on it!!!

Remember @ssclown.....our FA's are not allowed to eat in front of the pax!
