Anybody have any feedback on API? Heard the owner came up with a pysch profile that she uses on all aplicants. Thinking about using this outfit, just wondered if anyone else had.

Great Lady

She has contacts throughout the fortune 500 corporate world. She is the sole placement source for some very big flight dept's. I took her tests and applied through her during a lay off back in 96, she found me a couple jobs, But I had been hired by Zantop so I turned her down. (that is an other stroy) Class lady. If she will take you on as a client, it is worth the money.

I agree with Pilotyip. Janice is a very class act.

Yip, when you said "it is worth the money," have I missed something? The fee Janice gets paid is from the company, not the candidate, as far as I know. The candidate might have to put out money to go interview with her or some collateral materials, but that is all I am aware of money-wise.

Her background is in Industrial Psychology, so she knows her stuff. Her process is VERY rigorous; you have to write an autobiography first, include headshots for brochures to be mailed out in her marketing campaign of you, and then, IF you are successful in that first phase, you get to meet with her and take the psychological profile.

She has an excellent reputation and finds exceptional pilots for the positions. That is why she can command top dollar from the flight departments of the major corporations she represents.

Remember, if you apply with her, she does NOT represent you. Her first interest is with the company who has hired her to find a candidate. She is a recruiter and she will only try to place a person who has the exact qualifications the company is seeking, in addition to someone that wants to make corporate flying their ultimate goal.

Good luck!!

Paid a minimum fee

I think I paid something like $50 to take the test battery at a remote sight. Plus the travel costs, to go interview with her. Like I said well worth the money.

I think now she has the proctoring set up with University or College personnel. That is what she did with one of my clients. Not sure if there are any costs associated with that. Where did you end up taking the test battery?

I was not asked to pay; that said I also was not invited to take any tests. I was asked to send them a bunch of info and was then told I'm in their database. I call them every so often and they know who I am.

They're very forthright and honest and I would recommend them even though as someone with an all-airline background they probably will not be able to place me. Like someone said, they work for the employer, and will give them the applicants that fit the requirements.

Could someone please post their contact details.

E mail or website.

Thanks

$50

I took the tests back in 1982; an Officer in my reserve unit, VP-93 at MTC, administered them, where I was killing time between jobs. I may be wrong about the $50 it was a long time ago. Over the years, Janice has called me about 4 times, saying she had a possible interview for me if I was interested. Trouble was she only seemed to call when there was a shortage experienced pilots, and I normally had a career position I did not want to leave. The last time she called was in 2001.

Here is the website for Janice Barden http://www.apiaviation.com/

You first need to submit a form on the Registrant Services page. If she feels you are qualified, she will most likely either call you or send you an email.

I probably do not have to say this, but I will. Be VERY professional with her. She means business, and if she calls you, she is interested. From that telephone call, she will decide whether to send you any of the materials.

The process is long, but it is well worth it. She has the best paying corporate jobs out there. She is a great lady and someone that you want to have in your corner.

Norfolk Southern and API

Does anyone know if Norfolk Southern is using the services of Ms. Barden at API? I spoke to her briefly this evening as she wanted to update my profile. Is it very common for her to just randomly call her registrants for CV updates?

She seemed very nice on the phone and genuinely interested in what I was up to. For the record, all I've done in the past was fill out the paper applications with the latest update probably 2 years ago.
