Without all the info, it's difficult to say whether he did anything wrong or not. He's certainly not obligated under the FARs to perform a pattern entry.

Was there radio communication, busy pattern, etc.?

He did a straight in to final and cut us off when we were on base

Hmm...well it wasn't me, and there is nothing wrong with a straight in approach.

Why didn't you just land and ask him/her.

Because at the time it was'nt a big deal but he reported me to the airport manager so I got a little pissed, however it was'nt my fault I had been in the pattern for a hour he came in and made a doglegged 45 degree final entry, guess he had to save another .1 or something.......

He was in a hurry, not pleasure flying, and had to meet the courier.
