just curious how many guys here follow these codes???

An airline pilot will keep uppermost in his/her mind that the safety, comfort, and well-being of the passengers who entrust their lives to him are his/her first and greatest responsibility.
An airline pilot will faithfully discharge the duty he/she owes the airlinewhich employs him and whose salary makes possible his/her way of life.

An airline pilot will accept the responsibilities as well as the rewards of command, and will at all times so conduct him/herself both on duty and off as to instill and merit the confidence and respect of his/her crew, fellow employees, and associates within the profession.

An airline pilot will conduct his/her affairs with other members of the profession and with the association in such a manner as to bring credit to the profession.

To an airline pilot, the honor of his/her profession is dear and he/she will remember that each pilot’s own character and conduct reflect honor or dishonor upon the profession.

You forgot the last part which includes...

screw your fellow pilot,
get what you can now,
and fly the same jet for $3/hr less so you can win the race to the bottom.

AMEN!!

Airline pilot union ethics are about the same as airline CEOs/executives, politicians, and door-to door aluminum siding salesmen.

You've cited every reason why Freedom Airlines could never be a union shop.

Keep the list, know the list, ask for the list if you dont have it. Scabs are from hell!

ALPA and "Ethics" seldom collide in the same sentence. What a joke. Most folks are ALPA, because they're takin' their 2% regardless. Why not have the stickers and propaganda too.

They do! It's called ALPA PAC where you can hand over even more money, get your name listed in the propaganda mag and get a sticker too!

I see. I suppose ALPA's efforts to combat cockpit cameras, enforce the 16-hour duty limitation, prevent cabotage, prevent baseball-style arbitration, enforce "on duty while on reserve", and countless safety enhancements are just a wate of your 2%?

How much do you make? I'd bet it would be half as much without collective bargaining. Do you really think you're worth it?

ALPA's Code of Ethics are only as strong and valuable as the individuals who choose to actually know they exist and follow them.

Bingo!

Superrav, you'll find that most airline pilots are decent, god-fearing human beings who, given a moral or ethical dillemma, will usually do the "right thing", but there are always exceptions to the rule... that's why I carry a Scab list as well as a Freedom list (they ARE two different things).

Those who would stand up and say "I follow the ALPA code unceasingly and unwaveringly" are the same kind of people who sold snake oil in the Wild West - don't look for people who talk the talk, look for people who walk the walk.
